Thats a disappointment Slim. Glad I don't have
to compete there yet. Although it could be a
blessing if they have a 63 on display - no way
I'm putting a 63 on display in my house. :)

I don't have a real problem with pricing from BB anyway... there are FAR worse people to deal with.

Just worried about the dilution of the brand Rick. There aren't many premium brands out there anymore and Fujitsu is still one of them.

But I agree its the slammers that we really have to worry about dealing with.

You needn't worry about pricing from us (Magnolia). We're not the ones who give product away and we stay very firm on price. If you have any doubts check with Fujitsu - They'll tell you that our relationship has only provided benefits for all. I've yet to hear directly (or indirectly on RC or other forums) that we cause issues on any brand or product. I wish the trunk slammers (who give away less protected lines)would be as upright as we are.

Just want to ask a question. About 6 months ago, I bought a 50" Panny 7UY. I had shopped a lot of brands and Fujitsu was one of them (Saw it at audio Breakthroughs and I think Harvey also had them). Now I never saw them side by side, and I did think the PQ was excellent on the Fujitsu, but the PQ wasn't superior to the Panny, or if it was, it wasn't enough to justify the considerable price difference. So why are all of you so hot to install Fujitsu?

lexa695,
The Panasonic and Fujitsu use the same glass, so being feed native resolution they do look very similar. That's were it ends, the Panasonic has a horrible scaler built in compared to the Fujitsu. You'll see more trash (artifacting) in the picture watching a Panasonic vs. Fujitsu when it's not the native resolution.
Also, the Fujitsu supports full discrete codes for itself (both IR & RS-232) making it easy to control in a complex or even simple system design.
Last but not least, quality. The Fujitsu has a 3 year warranty out-of-the-box, and I have never had a customer that has had to use it. Panasonic, good luck.... piece of s***!

Gee, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy about my new panel. Well I'll enjoy it as long as it works. Funny thing though. I was told the 7UY doesn't have a scaler.

Ummmm, hello. Did the internet dealer or the big box salesman tell you that?

Dawn,

That's a really good question - is there an MSRP for digital displays? I'm in Chicago right now training a group of people from new Magnolia stores that are about to open. I'll ask one of the store managers if they know or not. Since we generally toe the line on all of our product pricing I'd assume we do it for Fujitsu as well. Can you give me a couple of models and their matching MSRP - I might be able to check that by just calling one of our stores.

Doesn't necessarily mean it's going to break on you.

Every video display (home, computer, projector, etc...) that can accept more than 1 scan rate (480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 600x400, 1024x768, etc..., etc..., etc...) has a scaler in it. Most consumer video displays these days use very cheap scalers (among other cheap things). The demand for cheap junk (cheap prices) has caused manufactures to cut every corner to make a display as cheap as possible. Even higher end manufactures have to cut corners some where to be within reason.
Example: If you really want to see good picture quality, get a Sony 20" HD broadcast monitor ($19,000), get it calibrated perfectly, and enjoy.
Even that Fujitsu plasma could be improved by mating it to a good outboard line scaler ($1K-$2K) on non-native resolution material.

Please be cautious using complete names of Distribution companies. Most of them will sell to anyone with a tax id number. Even though this forum is for custom installers, there are no guarntees on profiles. Magnolia will have Fujitsu. There was a training for them this week in our area.

Pretty sure no plasma will be able to change the resolution. But I will say that the overpriced Fujitsu's that I sell do have an aspect ratio button on the remote.
