OK, I just looked at the remote, I searched the
menus and i see nothing to change the res. Anyone
familar with the 507UY that can tell me how to
do this? I can't even change the aspect from full.

Lexa695,
I don't think you understand how video signals work - let me explain.
First, I assume you mean the Panasoinc 50PHD7UY (also on that model, not sure if the 50" Fujitsu uses the same glass or not). That model Panasonic has a resolution of 1366x768. Meaning is has 768 groups of red/green/blue pixels counting up the screen and 1366 groups of red/green/blue pixels counting across the screen. So the native resolution of the panel is 1366x768.
Any video signal you send into the display has to be modified to 1366x768, if it's to fill the entire screen. This is what a scaler does - for example: it will take a 640x480 (standard TV signal) and dupilcate the pixels running across (now at 1280), then add 86 more pixels across somewhere using some complex math to figure where it thinks its best to put them in. The pixels counting up will have 288 added to them in a similar fashion.
This is not something you change in a menu, your plasma has a resolution it has been physically built to.

The scaler takes all incoming signals and changes them to this resolution - the quality of the scaler will depend on the speed of the processor used in the scaler, memory (how many pixels it stores to evaluate), and the complex algorithms it uses to make its decesions.
You can find settings in the video menu sometimes that allow you to modify the algorithm used to evaluate the video frame.

Dawn,

That's a really good question - is there an MSRP
for digital displays? I'm in Chicago right now
training a group of people from new Magnolia stores
that are about to open. I'll ask one of the store
managers if they know or not. Since we generally
toe the line on all of our product pricing I'd
assume we do it for Fujitsu as well. Can you
give me a couple of models and their matching
MSRP - I might be able to check that by just calling
one of our stores.

Jeff Wagner

Jeff,

Yes Fujitsu absolutely has MSRP (list) pricing.

The P50XHA40US, for example, lists for $7,499 plus a $500 rebate right now.

I can attest to the truth of that; I bent an elbow with Jeff last evening.

Pretty sure no plasma will be able to change the
resolution. But I will say that the overpriced
Fujitsu's that I sell do have an aspect ratio
button on the remote.

At a client's house yesterday, his Panny had an ASPECT button. In SD and with a DVD input, it switched from 4:3, to normal, to zoom, to full, and to just. With a HD input, the aspect button did not function.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Does Fujitsu or AV$D have a 100% pixel gurarantee, that is any units discovered with a bad pixel can be replaced? I always thought that was why we did the open box inspections? or is it just for the sake of physical damage and not bad pixels?

Open box inspection is for physical inspection: is the glass broken.

With the new repair only policy for all major video manufactureres, I doubt that ANY have a 100 % pixel guarantee anymore.
