Gee, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy about my
new panel. Well I'll enjoy it as long as it works.
Funny thing though. I was told the 7UY doesn't
have a scaler.
Doesn't necessarily mean it's going to break on you.
Every video display (home, computer, projector, etc...) that can accept more than 1 scan rate (480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 600x400, 1024x768, etc..., etc..., etc...) has a scaler in it. Most consumer video displays these days use very cheap scalers (among other cheap things). The demand for cheap junk (cheap prices) has caused manufactures to cut every corner to make a display as cheap as possible. Even higher end manufactures have to cut corners some where to be within reason.
Example: If you really want to see good picture quality, get a Sony 20" HD broadcast monitor ($19,000), get it calibrated perfectly, and enjoy.
Even that Fujitsu plasma could be improved by mating it to a good outboard line scaler ($1K-$2K) on non-native resolution material.
