Well I was having one of those days until I read Tweeter will start closing stores. Not that I want to see anyone out of a job,but it just makes me warm and fuzzy allover.

Why warm & fuzzy? I don't have any love for Tweeter, but that will throw a certain number of trained people on to the street that will want to compete with you. Do we need more trunk slammers here in Chicago?

Do you know if they are closing any stores here in Chicago? Have they announced which stores yet?

They are closing 19 stores country wide. Although none in the New England region are scheduled to close as yet.

They are closing the West Dundee store. I drove by last weekend and saw a bunch of guys at every corner holding going out of business sale signs touting 10-30% off everything. I stopped in to see what they had going on and what a sale it was. If you took 10% off full blown retail and I swear that some of the things were over retail, you were getting a deal. I was thinking I would grab a new head unit for my truck until I saw the lack of discount. The best part of it was when I mentioned something to the sales guy that the savings weren't that great he said something along the lines of, "yeah, the liquidator priced this stuff really high but if you come back in a couple of weeks you will get a much better deal". I assume that Tweeter wouldn't be paying a liquidator to sell items that they will just relocate to other stores our back to their distribution center in Des Plaines but I could be wrong.
with all do respect... i had no idea that you had an experimental surgery to have your balls removed.

All of the good, new in the box stuff will be sold at minimum discount, but the out of box, un-sellable, repaired three times stuff will be dumped out (and probably moved in from other stores) because once there store's are gone, there's nobody for the customer's to come back to and scream at.

TW's got a point though. I wonder how many of those folks already have AVAD accounts.

I always hate to see anybody go out of business, even the competition!

It does feel good to see that 'the big boy's' are struggling with the low margins that they helped bring to this market!!

It feels even better after knowing the arrogance tweeter brought to the market in their rapid expansion and takeover of established shops.

The Mesquite store in Texas (Dallas area) is closing.

I wouldn't expect to see many markdowns except on demo gear. Most new equipment will probaly be sent back to their distribution center.

And it feels even BETTER to think about the manufacturers who stepped over there independant dealers to setup national chains suddenly have to figure out how they're going to replace their lost income.

"The sky is cryin'" for these boys!
They'll probably turn to ebay like everyone else!

They won't directly turn to ebay, but these are the types of things that put product into the hands of the people that stock the shelves of Sam's Clubs and Costcos.... and ebay liquidators.
