It's fun to watch the reps scramble to find new outlets when some major account pulls the plug.

I've seen it before, big box pulls the plug and the reps have NO outlets in an entire state......Kind of nice to see them sweat after having them look down their collective noses at most of the CI guys.

They really only sweat in New England... They get the majority of the commissions for the account Nationwide.
The other local reps for each brand outside of the main territory only get a tiny slice of the acount and hope to piggyback the marketing from Tweeter to build the brands for local and regional dealers. Sometimes thay get squat, but still have to "detail" the accounts and train the revolving door of sales staff.

What cracks me up about this whole thing is that I just got a CEPro magazine with Tweeter on the cover and the lead in a story about adding IP products like Media Center PCs to a retail mix...

Low margins AND breakneck obselescence for inventory??
Sign me up!!

Quote from article: "Dealers must have an effective business model to thrive."
Once again, great call CEPro...

All highs and with some lows...well it must be Tweeter and not just Bose.

We've always said "No highs, no lows, must be Blose"

or blows, however you want to spell it!
Why all the fighting and cussing? Can't Dave play nice? We're just here to learn and have fun. It was a harmless jab, laugh and get over it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW... S-E-A-R-C-H!!!

Since they don't specify it, I presumed that the uMusic must really be low bitrate...
Here's the design process as I see it:

(engineering) We must maintain high bitrate for sound quality

(marketing) Why?? We need a higher song count for the marketing material!!

(engineering) Well the audiophiles say that the highs and deep bass are seriously compromised with low bitrates...

(marketing) Funny, I hadn't noticed ANY difference on my Lifestyle system...

(engineering) Yeah, I really haven't either.... I'll meet you in the cafeteria for some Kool-Aid.

S**t rolls downhill, and the rep who has the little terrritory like two or three states is the one who sweats, in my opinoin.

The suits in New Jersey (typical location for some reason) don't sweat (they have those big parachute things), they just blame the national VP, who blames the territory VP, who blames the zone reps who are the ones doing most of the actual work (sometimes).

Zone rep can't make the numbers, income goes down, gets fired.

ATOH, "some lows" was refering to the All-Time low Tweeter has hit in the market today. Anyone care to start a dead pool?

i dont know about starting a deadpool. think i would rather pull the shovel from the barn and use it as designed:
for digging graves and shoveling s++t!

also proves that in custom, national chains are too cumbersome to adapt and change quickly. that is the black pill.

they also face a catch 22. if they don't adopt custom, given decreasing margins, discounters and ebay, they will fold. or, the custom division itself will run them dry with inefficiency and anomie.

where is Bernie Sapienza when they need him most. wasnt he fired shortly after CEPro featured him?

lastly, g-d willing, i can dig the grave a little deeper and throw Control4 in with Tweeter. they deserve each other!!
just for all the dealers PHAST (purely hype and surely troublesome) put in financial straits and bancruptcy.

I have to wonder why all you guys(unisexual term) have such a disdain for Tweeter? Is it really that bad a company? Did they wrong you somehow in the past? For the average consumer, I would have to assume they are a better destination than Best Buy or Circuit City, or Wal-Mart.
I never drive faster than I can see, and besides that, its all in the reflexes.

Why wouold they be any better a destination for the average consumer than those other big box stores?

Same basic mentality. Move those boxes is the mantra.

No emphasis on what the customer might better be served having, or how well those various items might work together, just move those boxes, collect those spifs.

There's just that one major difference between CI and retail.

Really, no more disdain for Tweeter than any other big box retailer that has so little respect for the customers actual needs.
