your three posts all have to do with URC database complaints.  you really aren't fooling anyone here.

You mean my posts have to do with a product I install regularly? Shocking. I like URC equipment. Sorry to upset the negative chain in here.

you responded to a valid complaint by telling someone he needs to get to work.  you are only adding negativity.

you have only responded to the ir database questions in your 3 forum posts.

where were you in the million other posts about URC?

On the URC forums. If you have a problem it's best to reach out to the actual companies involved in order to resolve it. That's the first thing I'd do after testing another unit to make sure it's not on my end.

I'm not having any issues using their codes with my AVR. The codes haven't changed in years.

What codes have been removed? Are you simply complaining over soundfields or something that doesn't pertain to basic operation of the AVR? Because that's on you. You can't expect them to hand you everything in a nice little package. You're being paid to work, so work.

Of course they are absolutely useless if all you're interested in doing is complaining. What steps have you taken to solve this on your own? Have you tested another unit? If your issue was affecting others there would be more mention of this. If my boss saw me spending time on a forum complaining, rather than solving the problem, I wouldn't have a job.

I don't give a rat's ass about the sound fields and if you re-read my comments, you'll see that a lot of the input commands weren't correct. It's probably best if you don't place blame when you didn't read the actual complaints. You could also look at the time of my posts- if they're after 8AM and before 5PM, it's because I'm still doing things that aren't at a job site, so it's on whatever free time I get. You get to work 40-ish hours, those of us who work for ourselves don't have that luxury.

How much time should I spend trying to fix a problem that isn't of my making? I don't stock equipment and all of my suppliers are diagonally across town, making most purchases a bit of a PITA unless I have to pick up a good amount of equipment.

I work for myself- that's why I don't have time to waste on crap like this.

The tech at URC called and said that my macro did the same thing with another remote, so he created another macro using EXACTLY the same sequence I posted in the screen shot. The problem stopped and when I downloaded it it worked on this remote, too. I had done the same before I sent the file to him.

If you can pull a cause for this BS out of your ass, I'll buy you a drink.

I'd like to say it's mutual but it takes quite a lot to get me out of lurker status in places like this. When someone starts off with a title like that though, it's a good start. It's amazing the trouble people have with such simple equipment.

It is amazing and it's equally amazing that you haven't seen the same BS some of us have.

BTW- I called the regional sales engineer for URC before I called tech support- does that count?

Five whole posts, eh? I don't know about your experience or the length of time you have worked with this stuff, but I've been working with audio and video equipment for about 40 years and in all areas, I have seen oddball problems that resulted in hearing "Hmmm, I have never seen that problem before".

Did you even see the macro I posted? Tell me where I went wrong and why it would hang up on the Please Wait screen.

I find it quite hard to take this hobbit guy seriously.

First, he creates a member name that's totally irritating to try to type, which is perhaps why he's been a member for five years and has made five posts.

Second, he sits there and says how simple it is but he has zero concrete things to say about the subject.

highfigh, I'm sure that, in addition to seeing things that made the factory "experts" marvel at your new problems, you've also taught some of the factory people some things!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Tom,
By definition, you don't and can't know when that happened. It has already happened, but you couldn't see the replies that I didn't post. Cute idea, but it missed that last bit of logic.

Well the good news is we won't have to hear from him for another five years.
