Why would you google Craigslist rather than just go on Craigslist? Man, you Seattlers want to Google EVERYTHING :-)

Yeah I meant, just go to google!

I think I'll move to Puerto Vallarta. Live off my social security, and my GF can teach down there. Can rent a Killer place for $600 (including all utilities) near the water!

I got Dengue fever there. Just sayin'

Unless the default search engine is Bing or something else.

Thats even worse. Thats like trying to start your ford with gm keys. Type google into bing then click through to google so that you can finally search for something lol.

And some people wonder why others start their own businesses. Firing via e-mail, phone or anything other than face to face is bullshyte and shows how gutless some people are. Not talking about closing is right up there, too. Leaving employees hanging is never good, but at this time of year, it's worse. If she can't figure out how to do a lot of business between now and the end of the year, she should have been found a better manager.

Sometimes you don't have control on when to pull the trigger to close a business. Maybe her lease is up and the landlord is jacking rent up 100%. (It happened to me). Or her accountant told her she has almost run out her nestegg, and has to cut her losses. Most of us owners are hoping for the best when we hit a rough patch. We can be in denial when our business is crashing and burning. It happened to me in the late 80's. While it is terrible for employees, it is even worse for the owner.

True. The owner has been in denial for a while. I probably should have bailed earlier when I saw the red flags, but I was just trying to be positive and optimistic, and kept telling myself, things will get better.

Come to Oz Mr. Stan.
Pretty sure you will find the politics, working conditions, healthcare, weather, housing, and general lifestyle to your liking.

I'm looking for a dispatch guy at the moment. About 1 hr a day of actual stock handling, the rest is answering calls, mailing flyers, basic data entry and basic tech support and just about anything that comes along that needs doing. Small team of 2 full time and 2 part time staff running the business. Very easy gig with main attributes being reliability and attention to detail. Pays 60k, use of vehicle, 4 weeks paid vacation, 12 paid public holidays and 10 days paid sick leave per year to start and is located on NSW central coast where you can rent a 2 bedroom house 50 meters from the water for $250 per week.

I guarantee I'll tell you the truth and I guarantee I'll tell you what you need to know but I can't guarantee that I'll be telling you anything you want to hear.

Damn,

That actually sounds like a pretty sweet deal Simon.

Of course Stan would have to get used to being upside down all the time.... ;-)

Yeah you can't look down here or you feel like you are falling out into space

It is a sweet deal. Probably why we got 150 applications in 3 days. Most over qualified.

The conditions are pretty standard but the 60k is a high starting point for the job because we want someone good who will stick around.
My gig is even better and easier. Much higher $$ and i hardly ever have to leave my house unless I'm travelling around the country or going overseas. Can't remember the last time i drove in peak hour traffic and i can get up at 8.45 and be in my office at 9.00 with a coffee in hand. It's about a 12 second walk from my kitchen to my office. Because my office is 1000 kms from the company's location, no one pays any attention to what i do on a day to day basis so long as the results keep coming in.

Any idea why business is bad enough to close? That's hard to understand in Seattle, where there should be tons of great integration and custom business.

Had the business model changed over the past few years, or perhaps a critical area ignored?

So cold it will frostbite your hand if you aren't careful.

We are very serious about our beer drinking here. This guy was our prime minister when we took the America's Cup off the NY yacht club all those years ago.
He once held the world record for drinking a yard glass of beer.

Notice how safe it is here too. Former head of the country accepts beer from total stranger at public event and sculls it.

I'd like to see any former president do that :-)

I should also mention our beer has more alcohol in it than American beer too. Our light beer is about the same as your heavy beer.

So yall don't drink it piss warm like the Brits? As for alcohol content, I prefer something around 45%. How's your bourbon supply down there?

Warm beer in our climate? You're Freakin' joking.

Stocks of bourbon are good but probably not as good as it would be over there.

Alcohol is more expensive here i think and harder to get. It's not difficult, but it's only sold in licensed liquor stores, not in every corner store.

I should also point out in case you have tasted it that no-none, and i mean NO-ONE in Australia drinks Fosters Lager, no matter what the ads might show or say. That stuff is about the worst beer you can buy here.
