So people don't die from drug use? I'm not responsible for the actions of a thief. If I leave my guns on the front porch, that would be different.

Of course people die from drug use. They usually kill just themselves or the person they sell them too buys them and kills himself.

Feel free to continue telling me how its your right. Just don't complain when one of your guns is used on you or someone you love because you didn't think it was your responsibility to take an extra step to secure a killing machine.

Great, just great.

Someone breaks into you home, steals stuff.

And you get punished for it.

Sounds like a liberal's idea of heaven.

And registering guns?

Bad idea. Yes it would solve one small problem and lead to confiscation of all weapons putting us all at the mercy of those in power.

Who needs the constitution anyway, just some old document written by a bunch of old guys wearing wigs.

Great, just great.

I wish there were two identical planet Earths, one for the scared folks who want to live in a nanny state, and one for the rest of us.

Sigh...

More die from drugs. But either way, I'm not responsible for the actions of a criminal

Not sure what to take from your post.
#1, Not sure if you are or a US citizen, but if you're not a US citizen, why are you pretending your opinion matters to the integrity of this country?

I'm not a US citizen. Most here are aware that I'm Australian, and as such have a different view to certain protagonists who will go out of their way to try and ensure that I and the rest of the world think that everything revolves around the United Stated when in fact the impression of much or the rest of the 1st world is quite the reverse. As a member of this forum, and probably the person responsible for the highest number of unique site hits of any member here, I think it's ok to share my perspective on what may or may not make a country a safer place. Particularly when my country has made the changes i refer to to with great success. I know America is a different country to mine and there are different problems. But how is the status quo working out for everyone.

#2, American forum.... Like 1st Ammendment stuff?

I'm being sarcastic when i say that i didn't realize that this is an American only forum. From some peoples behavior you would think that's the case.

#3, "I love how you scream about your rights from the highest mountain. yes start insulting like a little crybaby child as soon as someone expresses their right to an opinion different than yours."

But then you did the same thing yourself.

The difference is that i made many valid points first and i got back only insults. I'll admit to then replying with insults. I know i shouldn't sink to his level, particularly given that he is somewhat of an "easy target" in terms of intellect but hey, I'm human.
I guarantee I'll tell you the truth and I guarantee I'll tell you what you need to know but I can't guarantee that I'll be telling you anything you want to hear.

You are delusional. Every time you start off with the insults with taking shots at America and Americans. You've proven to be much less informed on our nation than you claim to be, yet pass judgment on our system. I have no use for you.

The difference is, I really don't give two shits what happens in your country. And you aren't near as informed on ours as you think you are.

I know you don't give a shit about my country. It's your standard line.
But you my friend need to understand 2 things.

Firstly that your country is not perfect the way it is and that there is some room for improvement.

Secondly that the rest of the world does not see the United States as the big brother and beacon of freedom like you think it does, and like a lot of your population is brainwashed into thinking as you grow up. Most of the 1st world population, the ones who are not trying to scramble out of poverty and persecution see the United States as a primary aggressor who will not be happy until everyone else has a democratically elected government interested in selling cheap oil to America, amongst her other strategic interests. I'm sorry if that conflicts with your greatest country in the world mentality.

Before you come back at me with more insults, how about just once post something that you think may help your country in terms of this issue.

Before Fins gets back with more gun-crazy xenophobia (which unfortunately, would qualify him to run for the Republican nomination), I'd just like to say that I'm American and I agree with this statement.

I don't care what the rest of the world thinks about America. And I never said America is perfect. But that's our problem, not yours to worry about. As for oil, yes, I want it cheap, and I want it flowing like water until someone comes up with a viable clean alternative. Contrary to how some try to pretend, oil is a necessity.

As for discussing ways to improve my country, why would I discuss that with someone that doesn't live in America or have any comprehension of daily life here? That's as logical as me critiquing the taste of lutefisk to a Norwegian.

You should work on your reading comprehension. I've said very little actually on the subject of guns. The issue that actually has the Aussie bent all out of shape is that I have a problem with holding a law abiding citizen libel for the actions of a criminal.

Sorry, but I've been following the thread from the beginning. Your first post in this thread that WASN'T on the subject of guns was this ad hominem against Stanley. After the requisite scape-goating was over, you went right back to saying very little.

What I have learned from your posts is that you believe that unfettered gun ownership, unlimited oil, and not having to explain either of those positions to anyone outside the US, are your American birthright. As simoneales was pointing out, that short-sighted worldview has led to an inordinate amount of wars in excessively sandy regions of the world.

Stanley was trolling. Even the moderator who has expressed very left leaning views knew that.

As for the second, that's about my right to raise my own children as I see best instead of having the government dictate their childhood.

as for wars, there's only the recent ones that one could attribute to us starting. And that was only after a group of fanatics decided to attack us. The others, we would have rathered stay out of.

What? So you are admitting you've got nothing and are trying to figure out how to get yourself out of this conversation.
