We have been using these for rack monitors for a few years now. Small foot print, HDMI, can get them through disty etc. Today one arrives, i unbox it and find no rack ears. I check the packing slip and manual and realize its not included.

Okay...my bad (even though the photo at the order page has the damn rack ears on it). I go to find them online and "no longer available" at most 3rd parties so i check atlona and find DISCONTINUED next to the product.

So exactly how do we use a PRO monitor without the ability to rack mount it? Atlona support says "right now we dont have a solution". I wonder if this means "these monitors are going away but we still have some to get rid of". I guess i have a date with home depot tonight. Flat metal, my drill and some semi-flat black spray paint.

Just use some spares from SnapAV wattboxes. :)

They say they're looking for a replacement for them, but Sales has not been told a thing about when they might have it. I got from him that people are calling to complain and it hasn't really gotten past that stage yet.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Exactly. A friend uses a variation of this. The Atlon website doesn't show the back of the monitor, so it's not obvious whether there's a VESA pattern back there. I hope there is.

I don't know if it has a Veda pattern but it could work with that mount since the connections are at the bottom.

This will be an easy project. I can make a little clear for each side and bolt it to the monitor. Then use flat metal to the rack rails. It will look the same or better. I just don't have the time right now. I need to find another rack monitor solution. These the things retail for like $600 so I have a lot of room to come up with something.

If the project can wait and you like using this monitor, send it to middle atlantic and have them make you an RSH for it. Dealer cost on the shelf and shipping the monitor to them for measurements will likely be less than the cost of your time fabricating something from home depot. Not saying your fab skills are not awesome but an RSH will look great.

And Brendon's mount would do the trick and much better than the atlona. It has Phoenix connector for power and a rear IR in, as well as serial. Seems well suited for a rack.
I love supporting product that supports me!

They have it in a rack mount version LCD-1560HDR . Nice find. The only negative for this guy is the low resolution. Not a big deal but seems weird that they didn't just make it 1920X1080 or 1200 like the atlona.

The Atlona documentation says in more than one place that it
Supports Resolutions from 640x480 to 1920x1200 and 480p to 1080p

I added the italics.
The documentation doesn't say that the display has 1920x1200 pixels any more or less than it says it has 640x480 pixels.

The Totevision link says
Resolution: 1366(H)x768(V) dots

but also says
HD compatible (supports 480p/i, 720p, 1080p/i)

which is no different from what the Atlona says.

MA Plate showed up today. It's close but needed a little Kustomization.

There wasn't any hardware for attaching the monitor to the RSH plate so we had to re-purpose some things. The package contained typical side rails and shelf that aren't necessary and don't help with mounting the monitor so we tossed them out, saved the small hardware and made ears for the monitor. Then we used black screws that came from a TV mount. I had to make the existing screw holes larger to make space for my scavenged bolts.

Monitor looks good but not as good as if it had its own rack ears. I shouldn't have to buy an RSH shelf and modify it on site. We won't be buying anymore Atlona monitors.

Model is correct:

Parts we don't need:

Re-purposed mounting ears:

I have collected all the extra hardware from TV mounts for years. The job I'm on now, out of the US, is in a place where an actual hardware store with a full range of ANY nut or bolt or screw just doesn't exist. But hey, it's all metric here and I had fifteen pounds of metric stuff! All I had to do was get a hundred nuts for each of several sizes; get some English size washers that would work, and I was set better than the big hardware store chain in town.

It is VERY expensive of time, and some of money, to get a reasonable quantity of hardware in black, so I'm grateful to the TV mount manufacturers for going hog-wild with enough hardware for the last decade. That even worked for you -- the screw heads on the front would have looked cheesy in cad plate!

Kustomization, indeed!
