I am just beginnin the installation of a new Theater. The question I have yet to answer is how can i individually control to identical televisions that are located side by side. I will be using a remote relay system for the equipment rack and HTPC. could you please give me an overview of how I can achieve this and any equipment I will need. i am planning to use a Pronto TSU 3000 for te control or possiblily a ipronto depending of what i see at CEDIA this week.

Thanks

If you're using the TSU-3000, why wouldn't you use the RF-extender to control the TV's seperately?

How would that work. Can I set it to trigger one rf extender and not another? I am not completely familiar with the pronto capabilities yet. The 2 tv's will be place next to each other, so a single blaster would operate both if located in room in fromt of unit. Is this correct or am I missing something that I do not realize it can do/

I may have screwed up. I thought it had addressable ports, but I don't think it does. Check your remote...mine isn't here so I can't. But if you can set different RF ID's for each TV then you could get 2 RF extenders and it would work that way.

Gentleman,
Any IR remote, I usually use a pronto and an ir router from xantexh. You can control up to eight devices with the same ir. Works great have many rooms with multipe screens using them.

You can always get one RFX for TVA and shoot IR at the other TVB.You will have to cover the emitter and the TV's sensor eye on TVA.

The Pronto will shoot both IR and RF if programmed properly.

What brand of TV? What model? this is BASIC information for keeping us from just shooting from the hip. The above ideas will all work in some situations, but you have not told us what your situation is.

If it is a bigscreen, the remote will have to shoot through the screen, so it will be pretty hard to make that effective on one without overspray to the other. On the other hand, I have four 15" zeniths in a block being independently controlled through a Xantech CC62. That is a multiple relay, not an IR router, but its only drawback is that I can't turn all the relays on at the same time.

So, what is the product you are trying to control?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I just did a job yesterday for a customer which called for 4 of the same tvs and 3 of the same DSS recievers. I went with the xantech Ir router and it was great! easy hook up and worked on the first try, i used a tsu3000.

Just my input,
Lonny

Lonny,

That is exactly what I am trying to do, and that is the remote I am planning as well. I see that an IR router looks to be the way to go. I will look at that option.

Ernie,

I am planning fr 2 27inch Toshiba tv's

Could someone please let me know a product number for the Xanteck router and a Niles router (if they have one).

The Xantech product is the called RT-8, I do not know if Niles has a router or not. A quick check on their website might turn something up though. I have also used the RT-8 and have had positive results with it.

Good luck,

I am not a fan of the Niles, but i can tell you this, the RT-8 was simple! just the remote is on back order but if you neeed the ccf. they are avaible on this sight, you also save your self some money!

Just add both TVs as two separate devices on the pronto, one RF extender on one TV with an emitter from the extender port to one TV and set the pronto to control this device by RF and the other TV by IR. If the TV that is set up as an RF device in the pronto is selected, then the remote will not send IR allowing independent remote operation.

Except for the above mentioned problem of the other TV getting the IR signal too, unless there is a way of blocking the receiver.

I have used the rt-8

i pulled the tv apart and put the ir sensor inside the tv directly over the ir target and then sealed it up to prevent any outside ir from getting in
