What brand of TV? What model? this is BASIC information for keeping us from just shooting from the hip. The above ideas will all work in some situations, but you have not told us what your situation is.
If it is a bigscreen, the remote will have to shoot through the screen, so it will be pretty hard to make that effective on one without overspray to the other. On the other hand, I have four 15" zeniths in a block being independently controlled through a Xantech CC62. That is a multiple relay, not an IR router, but its only drawback is that I can't turn all the relays on at the same time.
So, what is the product you are trying to control?
