Oh the four zone connect and connect amp would be extra helpful. Rackmount?????

I skipped out on the "preview" because I asked about that exact thing. Did they make a rackmount ZP? How about a multi-zone rackmount piece?

No? Bummer. Went to work instead.

So all these secretative stuff over a wireless subwoofer? It's great that you can easily add one to their system, but hardly innovative.

I understand why the built this....it will sell. But there are obviously better things they could have spent their R&D on. Sure, it might make a room with PLAY:3 in it sound better....but the idea of the PLAY:3 is portability, yeah? So now if you move the PLAY:3 to the bathroom, do you want to drag the sub in there too? If you do not, and you do not turn it off in the app, it will bump away in the laundry room where you left it.

And why is it not compatible with the CONNECT? It only works with the CONNECT:AMP and the PLAY models. WTF?

Whatchya gonna do?

This doesn't make sense to me either. I have only used one CONNECT:AMP and it was provided my a customer that moved and brought it with him from overseas. I would be interested to know how many CI's use a CONNECT:AMP, and if they do, how often compared to the CONNECT with a receiver or amp.

Well at least we now have a gauge of reference for all of those that claimed this was "game changing" and an "8 out of 10 on a coolness scale" lol

My guess is, it has something to do with being able to control eq, hpf, lpf.

Plus they probably assume the connect is connected to a receiver with preout. Pretty smart move if you ask me since now if you need their sub you have to use the connect:amp which is probably higher margin for them.

I disagree. While I do agree that the CONNECT:AMP may be higher margin, limiting it is a bad move. Not having it compatible across their own line handicaps you a bit. They still do not have multi-zone controller, so if you wanted to use a subwoofer in each zone, you would have to have multiple CONNECT:AMPs in a rack rather than stacking the much smaller CONNECT feeding a multi-channel amp. I just believe it would be smarter to have it be compatible with everything.

I was told at the pre-release event a couple of weeks ago that the software for the sub to work with the connect was being worked on. I still maintain the demo we heard was pretty damn good for a small sub and only sold direct and through install dealers

I appreciate that it is not a piece of crap because it (hopefully) will slow down this race to the bottom. Price is high enough it should help people re-gauge what good audio costs.

Went to the Sonos unveiling today at 11am. Unfortunately, it didn't go to well and they were on the phone with tech support trying to get it to work. I left at 12:30 and it still wasn't working. Looked nice though.
