I would just like to see a zone player with HDMI video out, Analog & Digital audio out and IR input for basic navigation using third party control.

I don't care about video streaming, I'd just want the HDMI out to display the Sonos GUI on a TV with IR remote control navigation (like Apple TV).

With the Sonos controller going away, it would be nice to have another interface option other than the apps.  I could sell one of these with every job, and would probably sell at least one to all my existing Sonos customers.

To me, this is the big missing piece in their lineup...

HUGE +1 to this entire list.
too bad thier to stuborn to introduce the IR feature.

Can't say what it is, nda, but on a scale of 1-10 it was probably a 9 1/2. I can't wait to order one

For me, on a scale from 1-10, it was probably a 3 for me.

I completely agree. I was disappointed to say the least...especially since the "new product" was being hyped as an integrator friendly product by the rep firm...A bit of misguidance

Are u guys saying the product is a "3" or the hype is a "3" ?
I think its much higher, maybe a 7 or 8, if you sell sonos now this piece is an add on once you already have the project and there doing the work anyway...

The product is neat and would be a good addition to the system if the client wants or enjoys that sort of product. The way it was hyped to me I was excited at the possibility of a device we could integrate into other control systems etc...Not even close to what I was expecting based on what I was told.

Sonos is by far not my main brand but I have done quite a few systems and in the right situation I absolutely love the product. I'm a bit disappointed that they are doing away with their controller but that's another topic. As far as the new product, it probably wouldn't fit well into the majority of the systems I am utilizing Sonos for. I very very rarely utilize those types of products in distributed audio systems as it is. I guess I will have to wait and see though, maybe it will be a hit.

On a side note...I spoke to the gentleman from Sonos who was doing the presentation about future products that would be able to integrate with other systems...in a nutshell he told me that they have no desire to release such a product. He said it wouldn't be worth it to them because it would only generate maybe a couple thousand extra box sales per year. He then went on to say that their main concern is customer satisfaction (big part of the presentation is about how everyone loves them and their satisfaction rating is super amazing...) and they are worried if someone integrates their products into a system and do a crappy job people will think Sonos is junk. I understand this point of view but think they are missing out on something that could potentially be a large revenue stream for them. Personally, if they had a product that could integrate I would sell at least one with every job I do, no question about it. I know others would as well.

this is why I see there solution as an interim product. I love it. Sold it since day one (with no beta issues). It will only take another year before all the other folks have the streaming sources and we can make our GUI's fit our needs.

They need a Sonos branded NAS that works every time. I know others have found several solutions that work just fine but its silly not to sell one from the OEM. I think their own NAS should have been before the ipod docks if you ask me but whatever.

I have my first Autonomic going in soon and plan on one for my own house. I need the storage built in,period.
