I would have stopped when i said if the comments had not kept coming in. I stand by the fact that i have not done anything wrong here. I simply conceded that due to Jeff's popularity the majority are happy with the post to stay and therefore so am I.

I posted under a pseudonym (look it up), AS DO YOU. The fact that you are trying to bully me into revealing my other identity does not change that and i have no desire for the attacks to continue once this name is deleted. It is actually pure coincidence that i was logged in under this name. This argument could just as easily have taken place under my other name.

I also like Zektor. Before all of this mud slinging, I also thought that if this thread wasn't over the line it was right up against it.

What if Mark Sipe posted the exact same thing about x-spot? I am sure the lynch mob would have him swinging from the gallows.

honestly, I don't have a problem with what anybody said until they started just plain trash talking. If DSC felt that it was a marketing thread, let him speak his mind. If we are willing to disagree or just accept it but be okay with it. Then so be it. 

This is a forum, not something defending equal rights. Yes, we can decide which "advertisements" that get put in a thread are okay and which aren't. Trust me, this group of people won't hold back on a person, rep or company that we feel is out of line. For DSC, this was one of those threads, but for the rest of us, we're okay with it. DSC accepted that, so move on.

Take some responsibility. If you want it gone, stop posting.


I've seen a lot of trade magazines where supposed articles deal with situations solved by particular products. Usually these magazines label the entire page "Advertisement." The writing on those is so dry and boring, and it is so obviously either an ad or the writing of a pod person, that it's hard to be fooled.

However, the first post IS NOT an advertisement. If the person posting had not been someone from a manufacturer, we'd never think of it as an ad. If the person posting had not told us who he was, I'd be hopping mad at him duping us. That was pretty much my attitude about the guy with the cheap Chinese Crestron ripoff.

But Jeff identifies himself right away, discusses a real problem, has solutions that, yes, involve his product, but this is all out in the open and it really is a problem-solving situation.

Do we pillory Brent or Fred Harding when they refer to their product or "favorite supplier"? No. And we should not. They are honest and up front about who they are. They contribute in ways that are not advertisements. THAT is the kind of member we need here -- honest and helpful. That's how I see Jeff here.

And Shelly, Baby,* really, if you watched the show, you'd see that there's A LOT more fun on it than in anything you've posted.

I think alot of the guys who are "regular contributors"  to the site like Jeff at Zektor, SnapAV, Matt from D&M, FredHarding etc. get a pass because they provide valuable information to guys like us.  

These are not guys who log in to simply sell you something (like the chinese thing a month ago, or what was that guys name a few years ago).  They're here on a regular basis helping technicians out of jams on and off jobsites.

Let's face it, these guys could be at home eating dinner with the wife and kids, They don't need to be on RC,  I doubt anywhere in their job description is there any mention  of logging into RC to comment or help a technician out of a bad situation.  

But they do, and they do it for the benefit of all of us.  Each and every one of the people I've mentioned has helped alot of members on this forum in one way or another, and not get anything in return except a Thank you.

In my opinion, this industry would be better off if it was filled with guys like Jeff. Don't be foolish enough to run people off who actually care about "YOU" the installer.  We need more of them.

If they want to toot their horn a little, so be it.  I'd imagine that they've saved members on this forum a combined few thousand man hours. 

Be Thankful there is somebody out there that is interested in what you go through on a daily basis.
