DrSheldonCooper,

I don't have an axe to grind in this fight, as I'm not even a CI. I'm just an enthusiast of Audio/Video, with lots of electronics knowledge, so I jump in and provide some technical assistance on occassion.

The line of, is it an ad? Is it not an ad? This is often close to call. When Julie posts here about some posting at CEPro, is she advertising? Yet, I don't see anyone calling her out here. I do think that this is a call for the moderators and owners of the site. That you have decided you are the "mod du jour" is a bit funny. If you think this is nothing more than an ad, and of no interest to anyone, and is an ad... It is then time for you to hit the little exclamation point next to the "Quote" button, and let the owner and mods decide. It is their call not yours.

I do think you should try reading the rules.

[Link: remotecentral.com]

I think you should pay particular attention to this one: "Users may hold only ONE Remote Central user account. Users found with multiple accounts may find some or all of these accounts suspended."

If this forum software is much like most I have seen, the mods can see the IP address of the poster. It is then possible to search for that IP address elsewhere. But, as DrSheldonCooper, you should know all about that. But, I'm guessing you may not have thought about that. So, let's let the moderators and owners decide these issues.

Good Day!

You know what, you're absolutely right. I did miss the part about multiple accounts and as such this will be the last post by DrSheldonCooper here at RC. The character was only ever intended to be a bit of fun. I am aware that the mods can see the IP addresses and work out who is who but my feeling is that they would let it be and not out me.
I still stand by my original comments and the original posting and video could have easily be written by the good folk at abroller.

Rule number 1 has been my point the whole was along.

Bye Everyone, see you later as myself.

So why not disclose who you really are, if the only intent of the alter ego was to have a bit of fun?

Ok, maybe this will be the last post.

I would disclose it no problem if i didn't think the attacks would move to my other screen name and continue.

The easy way to avoid attacks is to not instigate.

Nice work not identifying the brand being replaced as it allows you to lump all competition into the same basket.

I Have sent a message to Daniel to Delete this account so it should be gone soon.

For the record I don't see myself as an instigator at all. True, as bcf1963 pointed out i did break the third rule about more than 1 account and I'm deleting it. That doesn't mean I was not 100% correct about the original post being an ad and nobody from the peanut gallery has been able to dispute that. Look at bcf1963's link and read rule 1.

Rule 1.
"You may not post advertisements for commercial entities (for-profit endeavors). Instead, you may purchase direct advertising through Remote Central. Individuals and individuals only may use our marketplace to post for-sale items. "

Then try and argue the point with me using purely facts.

This name can't go away fast enough. I only hope Daniel decides that both accounts need to go along with an ip ban.

Wow, that's a bit harsh, particularly given the amount of help I've given you under my other screen name. You seem a bit angry. Are you a bit red in the face at the moment?

Great way to go, i assume that continual canning of all imported competitors product is part of that Neutral stance. Nice work not identifying the brand being replaced as it allows you to lump all competition into the same basket.

Or maybe he has enough class not to name names and honestly with the almost exception of one company they pretty much are in the same basket.
Thats simply experience talking.

Jeff, although i choose not to reveal my alter ego, I can assure you that i have been around here for years longer than yourself, am well respected and have many times the number of posts that you do. I can't speak for 2nd rick or Whitevan but I'm guessing they would agree that it's an ad and that there are rules for ads even if they don't object to this particular one because it is yours and might let it slide.

I love your alter ego but this time DrSheldonCooper you are wrong. Zektor has been a pivotal resource in the knowledge we have of HdBaseT and Jeff has been very involved in helping us solve our HDMI and other issues for a very long time.
I know Jeff. Who he is, where he came from and what hes about. I guarantee this video is not an ad but rather an answer to a question most of us have been asking for a long time.
We know where Zektor shines just as we know where Ethereal and Audio Authority shine and they have all been very important to the success of my business.
I will further say that due to Jeffs involvement in the industry and the friendship we have built that has long proven to come without a price tag has led to a recent change within that will have us using Zektor as an everyday company.
How many times can you say that's happened since the day you opened shop?

I think it's safe to say that we have all had our issues with HDMI particularly when sending over distance and all appreciate a product that works. But how would we feel if every time a manufacturer or distributor came up with a product that worked in a given situation, they came into the custom installers lounge and posted an infomercial about it. Think of all the brands out there and all the development that is constantly going on.

Again, you need to look at who posted and the material in question.

I did watch the video and correct me if I'm wrong but that system had worked for some time with the previous devices before it failed. You have pretty much declared success and years of reliability the same day as you got the system going and before the equipment has had a chance to fail or adapt to changing conditions. After all we have all had occasions where we thought we had a problem beat but then had to go back out 2 weeks later due to the problem coming back.

HDMI Baluns are known to fail without reason and are generally finicky to say the least. You say you watched the video so you obviously saw the speed in which the system lit up and the working picture with the cable half pulled out. Certainly caught my attention.

I have no problem at all with you organizing a webinar to educate the masses on the technology, or in fact if you made people aware of it here as it was an alert to a new technology and a chance for people to learn. It was not an outright sales tool to promote Zektor products in an inappropriate forum.

Again you are wrong and that webinar has indeed happened. The result of that webinar was a lot of people including myself asking Jeff to keep us posted.
I've now seen 2 videos where Jeff was on site with RESPECTED fellow RC members going above and beyond the call of duty. For that alone I say post away! I want to watch!

Again i'm not objecting to introducing people to new technology and I'd have no problem with it if you weren't waving the Zektor flag and canning other products at the same time. If you don't think i'm being fair then perhaps you'd care to name the other US made equivalent (HDBaseT) products seeing as you canned all imported products purely for being imported.

First of all! Wave away! Show me a product that works and show it to me in front of someone I trust. Let me see and learn so my life is easier tomorrow than it was today.

Secondly, the technology he pulled was HDMI baluns and not an HdBaseT product. He didnt can sh*t. Thats been done for a long time.

What he did do was show us a working example of a technology that works where another does not and is well known to cause headaches and stress.

However you have dressed it up, this is clearly an ad for Zektor product and not just the technology.
I have absolutely no problem with you advertising your product in an appropriate way, but that way is not here in my opinion. Telling you this thread in this forum is ok, is the same as telling every manufacturer out there that this is the shortcut to making your product known if installers might use it.

Again, Jeff, Brent, Trent (Now Anthony) and at least one up and comer have earned respect and remained neutral along the way. You have lost sight of big picture my friend.

I'm pretty sure I know who you are outside of your alter ego and I like you so Im going to ask that you step away for a bit and think this through. Its easy to have a bad day and jump on something only to have it blow up and take a path of its own.
Hell, I've done it. Ask Motech. (Great guy by the way)

If you still feel this way tomorrow then you are entitled to your opinion but I'm sorry and I must disagree.
My hope for you is that you get the chance to meet Jeff and get to know him and what hes about. If you love this industry the way I do then you will understand why I say that when you meet him.

Jeff, Thank you so much for all that you do. Keep posting and don't be discouraged by any of this. Those of us who know you know better.

I think you misunderstood what i was saying a couple of times there but you have made your point well.
There is no question that this whole thing ended up way out of proportion and well beyond what anyone would have liked. I feel that although i still see it as an ad, I'm prepared to concede maybe there is room for some turning of blind eyes where certain people are concerned.

Jeff, as stated in an earlier post, please don't take anything i have said personally and i have enough respect for Whitevan to believe what he says about you. I hereby withdraw any previous objection to the thread and your posting.
