Anyone tried this?

[Link: milestek.com]

Looking for a solution for a poorly wired house (every wall mount TV just has one coax, freaking electricians).

ZeeVee is an option, but prefer not to go there just quite yet.

Yes, anyone? I would love it for one of these HDMI balun solutions to actually work reliably - one coax sure would be nice!

Interesting, they must have adapted an existing manual because they're talking about Cat 6 cabling on the third page.

We've got a single coax unit that will be shipping very soon (probably in 4 weeks). The device you linked is probably built off a similar design, and probably the same core chip.

As for our device (Model HXE-11 is the kit, 1341T/1341R are the transmitter and receiver units), they transmit further over RG-6, but RG-59 works at shorter distances. Our unit supports 1080p, lossless audio, and a future update will add an IR pathway. 200 feet is no problem with 1 GHz copper-clad steel core RG-6, and full-copper core RG-6 will likely be even better.

I'm very happy with the performance of our test units, and anybody interested in getting in line to try one out can give us a call or place a pre-order through the website.

No pictures yet, but you can check out our manual from the downloads tab to learn more about how to install this product.

EDIT: pricing is obviously MSRP on the website

INtresting. I went to the AA website fist, but didn't find that.

If this project goes, I'll need 2 sets ASAP. Got any samples? I'd rather get it from you than MT.

Will the future update be hardware or firmware? Will the IR be bidirectional?

I'll call you later.

That's because I just activated the product listing :)

Unfortunately I only have one set, and it wasn't the final-final version, just proof of the distance capabilities of the unit.

IR update will be a hardware and software thing. I don't have a date on that yet, but we know we can do it.

Our piece is shipping now, in case anyone was watching this thread.

[Link: audioauthority.com]

EDIT: MSRP of the kit is $598, each individual transmitter and receiver is $299. Of course, dealer pricing is available.

I saw that you have an HDMI IP solution expected soon similiar to Just Add Power. Can't wait however, any reason AA didn't include 5.1/7.1 audio versus just basic 2 channel? I know the JAP solution is somewhat the same but expected the new product to possible go beyond 2 channel audio without the need for another 'box' to provide the total solution of HDMI over IP. This would really make the product unique in one box... Just a thought.

ZeeVee is an option, but prefer not to go there just quite yet.

I was brought in at the literal LAST minute yesterday to prewire a 6k square foot house for DA. it was crazy I would finish wiring a room and the drywallers were there the minute I stepped out to get there work done. What 2 cases of corona does to keep them waiting like that ;) it was stressful though, I was by myself. Man was it a long day.

When I went for the initial consultation on sunday I had noticed the exact same thing, one coax to every TV location. and the best part is they are all cut and terminated on the outside location next to the ONT and not a structured wiring panel to be found in that house.

I tried to explain to the customer on sunday that he needs to tell the builder to hold up the drywallers so we can wire the house properly he said "Ill jump that bridge when it comes" Ok.....he will be wishing he had held them off a week when he gets the bill to fix that mess.

Im pretty sure il be triming out in a month and a half, man is this gunna be fun. and even at that havent the electricians ever heard of a low voltage box for the coax?

We're working on it...that's really all I can say right now. The challenge is bandwidth (as usual).

Trent, any chance of having an in-wall version or adding some mounting tabs? Othewise it looks perfect, especially the daisy-chian feature.

Also, have you tested it with planet waves cable? Just curious.

We ordered one of the kits to try out before using on an upcoming job.

I tested it at the shop with a 100' piece of RG6 using Tributary compression BNCs. It worked as advertised.

But I wanted to see how it would perform in a more real world situation, using less than perfect wiring methods. So I took it home with me and slapped it into my own home theater.

For my test, I barrel spliced two pieces of RG6 that I had run in my house, just to see if it would work.  The wires were previously used for my channel modulator distribution around the house. I pulled off two cables from the distroblock and spliced them together with an F-barrel. Then I installed Tributary compression BNCs on the other ends of each wire.

I used an Oppo BDP83 Bluray Player and Samsung LNT4671 TV for my testing. I also used cheap HDMI cables. 6' long at the Oppo (came with the Oppo), and 10' long at the TV (came from my junk pile).   The total RG6 run is about 110 feet. (Belden wire)

As I type this, I am watching a bluray disc at 1080p with no issues. I was really surprised that it worked with the barrel splice. If this kit works this well with my crude testing, I feel really good about using it on our boats using proper wiring methods.

Thanks for an awesome product Trent!

How does the picture look? I was told that the unit uses a fair amount of compression.

Duct Tape,

I'm glad your results were good! We did some pretty nasty things during our testing, like cutting a 200 foot run of RG-6 into eight 25-foot sections, then barrel-connecting them back together.

The only real weakness of the system discovered thus far is that it really doesn't like soldered-on connectors (it creates an impedance problem).

It includes mounting tabs in the box.

We have not tested with Planet Waves cable.

I'm not a videophile by any stretch of the imagination, but it looked perfect to me.  I was using a test disc that came with the oppo.
