I think the Decora/Designer seeTemp t-stat looks pretty silly, at first glance. How does the homeowner adjust the setback temp?
I appreciate the subtle, minimalist design, but only to an extent.
Looks too busy - why can't it just be the 3 buttons, and 2 numbers (actual room temp and set temp)? The 2 scales look very 1970s, to me.
Edit - can't find an image of it online, but p. 17 of the HW Wireless QS red brochure.
I guess we'll have to wait until CES for the HW Wired/4/8 QS brochure. The HW 4/8 rollout won't be until April

Anyone know when Lutron will publish MSRP pricing for various RadioRA 2 components, or where I might be able to obtain "list" prices? TIA.

pricing here: [Link: cepro.com]Julie- Great article. Really sums up the changes. Thanks for that! I was really excited by the demo at CEDIA but was trying to remember what changes/talking points I would reference for the client. This helped. NOTE: I think your first comparison of $1400 for RA1 to $499 for RA2 is actually even more dramatic. Correct me if I am wrong but the Chronos, which is basically the same thing as the new main repeater, retailed for $1600. In your comparison I dont think there was any astronomical time clock capabilities in the old system parts list. I may be wrong but anytime I needed the items described (232, time clock, main repeater, etc) I just went with the Chronos so I am not aware if it can be done for less using multiple components.

When can we get our hands on RadioRA 2, the thermostat and remote?
I see some very low cost entry level systems here. All thery are missing is whole house audio and security.

Thanks, Julie!
Ah, secret compartment.
I wonder how quickly that plastic door will break off, or fail to stay closed.
Which brings up the issue of quality materials...anyone think the switch plates feel cheap? Rounded corners and square edges (TM?) is a great design concept, but for a few cents more they could make the plastic switchplate thicker.

Chronos did support both time and astronomical time clocks, a repeater, as well as RS-232.
Temp sensors are wireless. I love how Lutron comes up with its nomenclature; dynamic keypads are a touch panel by other names. They most certainly could control security systems or thermostats with z-wave to -232 interfaces, audio systems, pool control.....

I've removed and re-installed those plates a hundred times and have yet to see one break.

They just feel cheap. Car dashboard and other interior plastic has also become pretty crappy, the past few years. No, it won't break either, but I still dislike it.

i have my level 3 cedia cert., am getting my HAA and ISF this coming week, and will shortly there after be getting my THX. next year is my designer cert from cedia, and i am starting in on green tech. training and LEED classes. and that proves what? That you can pay for a class and get some certification that means nothing? Just because you can sit through a class and answer the questions correctly at the end does not qualify you to do anything. I brought a girlfriend to one of the above mentioned classes who knows nothing about this industry and she was able to get certified along with me and she is a car salesperson.
