Whois Privacy Protection Service, Inc.

I'm sure it's a scam company, but using Whois Privacy Protection is standard practice these days. Back in the good old days everybody thought it would be a good idea to have a real address and phone number associated with each web domain, but these days it's pretty unusual due to spam and worse: [Link: en.wikipedia.org]

The address shown in WHOIS is a 3rd party, not related to Audiophile Liquidator, and the fact that it appears for other domains doesn't necessarily mean they are scams as well, although PharmaExpressRx and cashadvanceservice.net don't exactly sound like the most upstanding netizens.  :)

Well if you look closer you will see that they are selling several protected lines at prices that are way to low

Amazon does, too- what's your point? This doesn't make them unique.

I just spoke to my Sonos & Monitor Audio rep and he flat out said that the OP's website complaint is valid. It is a SCAM website. The problem with getting them shut down is that the website is ran offshore.

Seems like this distributor commits fraud, and the owner should be jailed.

On the other hand, there are many other distributors selling the same products.

Nuvo and Russound are conspicuously absent from that site. Some companies pay a lot of money for Internet policing, and some look the other way to move product, for 'dealer only' goods.

Which AV manufacturers sell only 'dealer direct'? Sign up.

If it is hosted in the US, then this will be no problem to shut down.

Otherwise, you can fight crap with crap. DoS or DDos.

Hehe, missed the original date.

Funny that the website is still up and running.

Yeah, would you mind telling us what the problem is? Okay, it's organized crime, that's bad. Does that mean they are going to try to sell me something? Attack Mr. Stanley? How much do they charge for that? (Just kidding, Mr. Stanley.)

Holy Cr*P... They are about two or three dooors up the street from me!!! No Really!!!

I'm at 14210 NE 20th in Bellevue... Might have to pay them a lunchtime visit!!!

My recent email to the original poster:

Marcus,
you've committed the most common sin of the newly registered, which sometimes just seems hilarious -- you've commented on an issue in a thread where nobody has commented for three years. Sometimes when this happens I point out that the people with the original problem might not even be in the industry any more. In this case, it's a bit different because you're helping others not to get scammed.

This is funny because when you post in an antique thread, we old-timers who should know better just pile on and add to your comments a) without noticing that you're new to the site and may not have enough practice there to realize that you're commenting on something that's basically out of date, and b) soon after we realize that WE have missed how old the thread is, so then WE get mad at YOU!

Thanks for the recent post, but please be polite enough to help us cover our weaknesses by saying something at the start of such a post such as

I know this discussion is probably obsolete, but...

or

looks like nobody thinks this topic is current, but...

or some other such introduction that lets us know we should not get upset as though this is a totally new international problem.

And welcome to the site!

Regards,

To the rest of us:  Guys, really old threads have their dates of origin in the list of threads.  Nobod should miss that and then get upset.  Daniel instituted that just so we wouldn't make fools of ourselves for making a big hoo-ha about obsolete issues when we discover what we've done.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I started this thread in 2008 and am shocked that this wanabe your pal with a chainsaw company is still around. The thread is however doing what it is suposed to and that is warn un suspecting buyers. I went to the original address years ago (which was in oakland) and it was an open air parking garage. Adds a whole new meaning to the term "trunk slammer"

I reported these guys to a few vendors last month. Was told by three separate reps that it was a scam site to steal cc's.

Was also told they are an off shoot of the op site and that one company spent hundreds of thousands trying to shut them down.

Please do not quote this reply in your response as I plan on removing the link in a day or so to protect consumers.

The picture may show a large bustling warehouse but the address is a ups store po box. Also, a Google image search shows that may be one of the most used images on the net.

Has anyone received had a order actually fulfilled with them?

They could be buying rejects from the original factories in China?
