If they implement lighting updates like the implement remote control updates, there will be in several lawsuits for the lights not working and someone getting hurt.

Developing and releasing software for device control that is buggy and breaks all the time is one thing, but lighting is a far more serious game to get into...

Based on the email, it sounds like they've probably teamed
up with Lutron (maybe Vantage) and created a built-in
RF code-set for some of the remotes.

What does that really get them that I can't already do with a Lutron IR receiver? If Lutron, it would have to be RadioRA based as Homeworks Wireless uses multiple frequencies based on interference and unless you have access to the HW software, you won't know what frequency to use.

So if it is RadioRA, again what is gained over an IR receiver? All I could see is using it as both a "Scene" based controler and "Room" based controller on the same device so it becomes tabletop remote in a different shape that can control the TV.

What am I missing?

I am guessing...Two way control via IP to a Lutron Radio Ra system via the Ranet device??? Sounds like a cool idea....

I've never known Lutron to allow this before (direct interface via RF) with any 3rd party manufactures. They always have had to go thru an interface. Even Pronto is having to do this.

So if it is really a direct RF control and a big name in lighting control. I would have to say it's going to be z-wave technology and the brand = Leviton
God help us all....

it would, indeed, be a HUGE departure for Lutron.

So, will URC be competing with Monster's Z-wave remote that controls Leviton?

I don't believe you can control Zigbee lights currently without a bridge (like control4, centralite, crestron, etc.)

hmmmm....

RadioRa works at 418Mhz.
URC remotes work at 418Mhz.
I'll bet we get direct scene selection just like a keypad.

If so, I wonder if you will be able to mix room and scene logic on the same remote.

One concern though, if the remote is getting 2-way feedback via RF, will it do so all the time. If so, a remote not on a cradle but sitting on the couch would have a shorter battery life if it was to recognize every light change. But if it didn't, how would it stay in sync?

I guess you have never used the Nevo or Philips IP Remotes.....They take forever to sync (Get an IP Address).

I'm thinking only one way. No feedback.
I want this to work on the 900, 880 etc.
