Man Zonie, easy on the guy!
If he is that wrecked over the press and hold feature, then he has other issues to work out. Those are strong words about the staff at Niles, obviously he doesn't know them. They have always been good to me!!!
Peace!!

whoa Zonie- i would agree that Ron was out of line to attack a group of developers that have always tried to listen to the industry they serve. however; this unit is closer to the year 1990 than it is to 2010. you would be welcome to try and sell this unit to my parents, but i doubt they would trade their RTI remote setup that is FULLY customized to both their decor and their needs. try to do that with any Niles product. yes it has its place, i just feel you are taking this a little to personal, lets keep the family out of it.

Proaudio95. I was not the one who attacked the developers.

All shields are down and my face is wide open so you can begin the pounding if you want but I agree with Vincent. I am not at all impressed and I will go one step further to call it a glorified Harmony in my opinion.

It's still under a $1,000 bucks and don't forget the margins...
A glorified Harmony, not a bad thing I guess...
As well as calling all of my old customers for the past 7-8 years and letting them know their new remote has arrived, lets schedule an appt.
It's really paying off in NC.
Peace!!

We have been huge fans and sellers of the original Intellicontrol. Currently we are hesitant on the IC2 which is the Intellicontrol's replacement.
We have a dozen in the field or so. The early releases needed upgrades and had battery problems. My programmers/installers have become disenchanted. I really like the hard key format however! I think for the over 50 set it makes sense. The average head of household is over 50 now. Touch panels like the MX3000 and others are just small IMHO.
You can operate the IC2 without even looking at it.
Today I notice that there seems to be a rather long delay between key presses and sending the command. Some have indicated that is due to the Zigbee transmission used by the IC2. Of course zigbee eliminates interference common to Universal and other 418mhz remotes but delayed response is a serious problem.
I really want to get the IC2 to meet our needs,,but we are stongly considering RTI. WE use quite a few Universals as well.
Anyone with any insight on the future of the IC2? Pending improvements?
Thanks

when i was working in sales, i installed an IC in one of the theaters in our showroom. the adjacent theater had a crestron touch panel, so that didn't help my opinion of the IC, but it mostly deserved my hatred.
i can see how it would be ok for senior citizens, but i'd much rather go with a URC MX350 up to MX980. at least you can customize the labels of some of the buttons, so there's no #1=5CH stereo monkey business going on. to me, that's not acceptable. as for the comment about using it without looking at it, most of the time i can use a pronto or RTI touch panel without looking at it either, since they're loaded with hard keys in addition to the touch panel.
Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.

After having used the iRemoteTS, I will be avoiding the IC2 in the future (although we have a bunch in stock to sell...) The TS has everything the IC2 does not. I'm happy now (finally...)

Thanks for the response! How about the zigbee lag on button pushes? Have you noticed it on the TS?

It's there, but not annoying.

(IMHO)

Good to hear!
Have you guys integrated a TS with the ICS system yet? We have a couple of proposals that include three of the TS's with one ICS. We recently found out however that the ICS will only allow one full blown TS with MSU, at least for now anyway.
I cannot remember the details, but it would really be nice to tie all our systems together in large house.
Three surround sound systems in one house with whole house audio is not that uncommon? RTI or Universal would seem to be the alternative for to access the local ICS with infrared in the surround areas.
Thanks

Yes, we have, and it works well. It's really two remotes in one. You can see it 'reboot' and switch from IC2/TS mode to 'Contact' mode when you press the button. There is something coming from them to solve the three zone issue, but the last I heard was around CEDIA, so don't sell it yet...
