Planning ahead and the want/need to tinker. I keep reading these threads about van organization and i want to get in on the action :). The craziest part of this? We just started the apx 100 day process (vet visits & vaccines) that will allow us to move to Hawaii with our dogs :).

I was in Florida for 6 months. I have been home for 4 weeks. I finally got caught back up with local clients and opening my mail at home so now I'm in "Home Project Mode".

Awesome.

I haven't been on the message boards much lately, but took a look through this thread this morning.

To mwstorch, Hi-FiGuy & Audiophiliac... that's nice work from all three of you a few pages back.

This lift is part of a current project that I wrapped up last Friday.  It's a rack & pinion Inca lift in a custom upholstered bed with Lutron Drapery track. Rest of the project should be wrapped up by summer.

Mike - This job has lots of LED edge lit soffit details on ceilings and walls almost exactly like the TV wall in your last post. I think it's a really nice detail.

Nice work, per usual. As a heads-up, we had a Lutron drape job last month that the customer complained about the track making a "machine gun noise."

I called tech support and they said it was probably a loose belt. Unfortunately the adjustment for this is to move the motor and/or idler endcap out from center. It's nice that the track sllows this(it's a simple allen key adjustment), but THE TRACK NEEDS TO BE ON THE FLOOR TO ADJUST!

So, we had to remove the fabric and dismantle the track to fix it. Our new SOP with drape track is to check the belt tightness prior to installing.

Hi Mike, this job has 22 Lutron drapery tracks and also a number of Roman shades plus a few roller shades.

I haven't come across a loose belt yet, but did have to take one apart on this job to re-attach the cord that connects all the snap carriers to the end of the track.  Had to remove the drape and the track to make the fix so now familiar with the set screw you talk about.

All the shades on this job have been really design intensive.  They're all either recessed into pockets, recessed into fabric panels, recessed into plaster or a combination.  In the retrofit areas with wall mount drapery track we even cut in for blocking and did patch and paint just to recess the vertical portion of the wall mount "L" bracket and hide it in the wall.

Ceiling mount recessed into plaster just to conceal about 3/4" of the track profile:

Some photos showing detail of a track mounted into acoustic soffit with fabric:

Here's a couple photos of a closet with the LED edge lighting similar to the TV wall in the job you shared.  I think in total there's over 3000 linear feet of LED tape light on this project.

No, I'll have no idea how it feels until several other people accuse me of being a lying bitch. So, until then, you are still on your own, Stacey.

Stacey? Hmmm I don't think I know Stacey?

A lying bitch? That's pretty harsh, even if it were true. I'm wondering why the moderators here don't crack down on the personal attacks here.

Like I said I used to love coming here to shoot the sh*t, be it about our business or stuff in general but there are a few here who enjoy bashing me. I'll just ignore you guys, and you know who you are. Kind of like being on the playground with a bunch of 12 year old bullies. I've received several emails from other members here who have commented on these members who have a general reputation for bashing some of the members here.

I've been a loyal RC member for quite a while, and see a fair amount of personal sniping, and when someone attacks me I generally retaliate, especially if it is for something so benign as being accused of making up a story.

I find it pretty ridiculous that I was being called a liar abou the greyhounds slipping past me at a clients home a couple years ago... And then the usual suspects piled on... ridiculous.

Isn't there a basic forum ettiquette? Other froums I'm on I don't see this sort of stuff going on (except for sports froums).

I guess the best hting I can do is what Audible Soulutions did a few years back when he and I agreed to disagree on a topic about Crestron which he took offense to. He said "Stanley, I am going to ignore you and not respond to any of your comments". He has done this. I'll take the same course of action. I respect his action, and I'll follow suit.

You dudes need to STFU already. You're grown fvcking men acting like little children. You wanna know what I've done every day for the past 12 days? I've sat in the hospital while my mother in law fights for her life, having gone through THREE surgeries in that time, and I felt every wave emotion there is. I come here to RC for an escape from what's going on and every goddamned thread is you guys bitching about the most mundane, ridiculous, unimportant things. So seriously. STFU ALREADY

FWIW, I believe Bruce's story about the dogs. I do not care what kind of dog it is. Some of them just bolt as soon as they see a chance. Why is that so hard to fathom?

Other than the part that you were also one of the initial individuals that called him out on his crap, I agree. Not sure why 3 days later he still had to go back and drag it up.

Calling him out is one thing. You've done that. When he comes back with his typical bs, just let it go and put an end to it. You are better than that man. You have made your point.

You are right. I grew bored with it 3 days ago.

I am bummed. I don't often work on electronics... but I replaced some speakers in a guitar amp. I had to tear the whole thing apart including the built-in EQ (and it was complicated!) just to remove the old woofers. I had to cut and splice several wires so I could access the woofers.

Well, just got "THE PHONE CALL" -- from the customer... She took it home plugged it in, and it smoked. No, I didn't test it. I labeled all the splice points, but must have f'd - up. Looks like I'll be paying out $500 for a new rig. Damn.

I offered to get her a nice rig for about $250 (my friend has aguitar shop)... but she insists the old one (and it was a pice of shite) get repaired because it had a special "Tone" she liked...

Another lesson... stick to speakers, leave electronics stuff up to the other guy. Not the phone call I was expecting... I thought (I have caller I.D.)--- that she was calling to tell me how awesome it sounded... is it Beer -Time yet? Man oh man.

Just another day in the office then, eh?

News broke this morning about a triple homicide here that happened sometime tuesday. Pictures shown of the residence were very familiar, as we had just performed some work at the house for the residents not too long ago! WTF? Law enforcement officials described the scene as the "most bloody and disturbing" they have seen in their careers. They have one guy in custody but he has not been charged with the murders. They do not believe he was responsible for that crime. Several counts of grand theft, forgery, etc. They have an APB out for a subaru wagon (good luck...too many granola and carpet munchers around here to blend in with). No details about the victims, but they were listed as a woman and 2 men. Fits the description of our clients alright. I cannot imagine any other scenario.

Anyhow, aside from that, we are doing some spring cleaning in the office. I just tested and tossed a stack of laserdisc players, VCRs, receivers, etc. We have a huge warehouse/barn full of old crap to sort through. My idea of sorting this mess is to load up the dumpster. But there is probably some usable old stuff in there. I am staring now at an old Mcintosh MC240. It just needs retubed. There is also a stack of old Mac gear on a shelf....wood sides...a tuner and integrated amp it looks like. I need to clean it up and test it. 4 magenpan speakers to connect to it. And about a half dozen old turntables to check out. Fun stuff I tell ya. The garage sale will be EPIC!

Trying to decide if I want to tackle the Sony G90 project sitting here. It fires up and works. It just needs a complete calibration and convergence session. I can take it home....I have no place for it really. HDMI 1.4 card is available for it for $350 or so. Could be a fun hobby piece.
