Does CC still have their sales people wear those ugly
red blazers?

no, the sales guys when they were on commission they wore taupe or blue blazers...the red ones were for the sales/store managers.

The entire crew that I saw was wearing plain ol' blue jeans and Firedog polos. I immediately thought of the original CE Pro article about all of the Firedog regulations and Julie's hilarious cargo pants follow up.

Now it looks like a year later they're saying "ahh screw it, just wear whatever you want"

I've got another commandment for them:

Thou shalt not have a f*cking idiot in a suit, without
a brain, that has never been on an installation in his
life nor had to carry a 63" plasma into a customers home
write the commandments.

100% agreement... I can just visualize a little corporate boardroom full of these d*ckheads outdoing each other with these stupid "rules"...
On a similar note...
I am sitting here in a Starbucks... (the company is freaking out because they are losing market share now to McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts etc...) so they have all these stupid little signs around their shops that say sh*t like: "The Neighborhoods Best Coffee Place"... and there is a sign that has a picture of a Starbucks barista, and he is quoted, saying how he "loves the diversity of his customers" and all that B.S. --- then underneath it reads "Love What you Do" ... Yeah, making minimum wage living below the poverty level making coffee drinks all day for idiots like me... Gotta love it.

But getting back to CC's "commandments" they are now just trying to out commandment Best Buy's "commandments"... LOL

This girl I know that works at Starbucks said they held a big corporate meeting and came down on all of the counter people, telling them they need to "reach out" more to the customer and be "friendlier" --- she jokingly said "Does that mean I'm supposed to be giving H**D?!?! LOL!

Gotta love it when the big fat "suits" start coming up with "Ideas".

I guess being a trunkslammer has it's benefits sometimes.

I was thinking about applying and putting on my resume
that I have a Prince Albert, but I rarely show it to customers.

Alright, so it's been well over a year since I started
this thread, but I happened to wander into a Circuit City/Firedog
location today, and what did I find????

Walked into one a month or so ago to get a Blue-Ray disc. Store looked deserted almost. VERY little traffic. Un-kept displays, etc.

sure enough, went by a week or 2 later for another BlueRay issue, and the store was out of business. No warning that I could see.
No, I wont install your plasma with an orange extension cord hanging down the wall.

Folks, the rumor is that Circuit City will be bought by Best Buy within the next year or two. Best Buy will consolidate or get rid of all CC stores in the vicinity of their current stores. Geez, that will probably be most of them as everytime I see one store, the other isn't far away - sometimes in the same parking lot.

John given that I work for Circuit City, in the Corporate office, I would love to know where you got this information.

If anything it would not be Best Buy, it would be a financial holding company, like what Tweeter is going through, but I don't see that happening at this point...but you never know.

hey mr2channel,

tell me why CC sucked so bad they got rid of thousands of employees that were trained and seasoned, just to turn around and rehire them because the idiot 16-18 y.o. kids couldn't answer a question about how to piss much less anything about A/V. and please, ask me for examples, i know your company o too well. you need to avoid places where real proffesionals congregate, and go back the rip off artists that don't care one bit about their employees.

oh i'm sorry was that a soapbox i was standing on.

Mr. 2 Channel has been around here for many years, and for most of those years, he didn't work for Circuit City. I respect him as a professional even though I don't care for the company that he works for.

Look I can't answer those questions, that would come from a pay grade much higher than mine. I have 12 years wearing a toolbelt, and 14 years in the custom install business, most of those years dealing with high end gear. My role is to share the knowledge that I have amassed over the years to try and correct some of the known installation and sales issues that currently exist. I have no desire to get into any debate over the things that are already known.

I cannot and will not say. Let's just say I know a few people.

Thanks for the correction. Yes, it would be a holding company that would be making the purchase, but that's all I can tell.

Thank you for the plug, I know that my working for CC has been received with less than pleasant thoughts/comments from other CI's but at this point in time it is what I need to do to be able to provide for my family.

Richmond has a very small CI community and I know the majority of the REAL players (lots of trunk slammers and production guys) and those that I would want to work for in my market are not hiring, or just simply cannot meet my minimum fiscal requirements...no matter what I will never leave the AV industry...who knows my continuing practice within the Crestron programming suites just may land me a CAIP status. :)
