Has anyone read this month's CE PRO yet?

Within the article is a list of Circuit City's regulations regarding Firedog contractors. Among those regulations are "no denim or 'cargo' pants".

However, every photo that's shown of Firedog personelle shows them wearing nothing but tan 'cargo pants'.

Now isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?

Another regulation that's written in stone on top of Mount Firedog.....

Thou Shalt Not Park in Thy Customer's Driveway

To which, I would politely respond.......

Thou Shalt Remove Thy Corporate Elongated Ass from Behind Thy corporate Cubicle to Carry 500 Pounds of Gold, Francincense and Bose through 40 Leagues of Snow and Pestilance in Thy Non-Denim Pants.

I've got another commandment for them:

Thou shalt not have a f*cking idiot in a suit, without a brain, that has never been on an installation in his life nor had to carry a 63" plasma into a customers home write the commandments.

CC's losses have been all over the media in the past couple of days, which leave a new commandment.

Thow shalt make up for one's losses by increasing volume of thy sales.

The article said they chose FireDog from over 6000 name choices. I'd love to see the ones that didn't make the cut.

I drove past CC tonight, and there was about 25 cars in their lot. 1/4 mile north of them sat BB with about 300 cars in their lot.

It's the peak of the holiday shopping season and it would seem that someone is getting their lunch handed to them.

Firedog may increase profits for CC, but will it be enough to continue their prime retail location expenses as well as cover the Firedog startup/marketing expenses?

I'm glad that I'm not a stock holder.

I predict CC will be gone or bought out within in a few years. I don't know what their annual reports show, but I know that every time I walk into a Best buy store it is loaded with people and every time I walk into a Circuit City store it is empty. I also know that what ever one thinks of Best Buy, their stores are well laid out, spacious, and attractive, and overall enjoyable to be in except for the brain dead (on average) help. Circuit City on the other hand is unpleasant to be in, poorly laid out, much shorter ceilings, more claustrophobic feeling in the aisles/less spacious, has displays that are nowhere near as well set up etc. And you still get the dumb sales people on top of it.

I'm curious if anyone thinks that Circuit City will be around for more then 1-4 years, and if so, how they'll pull it off.

10 years ago, they could afford to take the DIVX hit, but times have changed. Sam's/Walmart, Costco and Best Buy are much more formidable competitors then what existed in 1996.

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

FLAMING WEINER!!!

I love it!

LOL...you made my day!

BTW, Julie, how 'bout a follow-up interview with them asking them WHY they would allow that picture in the same article where they are expousing their professionalism? This kind of crap is exactly why they get to grow...nobody challenges them.

Me: "So, um, Mr. Firedog PR guy...if your policy is for your folks to not wear cargo pants, why are all of these publicity stills showing employees wearing cargo pants?"

Them: "Uh, oh, ummm, that's because, uh....the pics were taken BEFORE we decided that cargo pants were not part of our dress code, and ummm.....we...didn't....have timeeee tooooo...uh....reshoot the photos! Yeah, that's it. Now go away, we have flaming weiners to put out."

Ed will be known as the Tiger Woods of the integration business, followed closely with the renaming of his company to "Hotties A/V". The tag line will be "We like big racks and tight holes"...

Thou Shalt Not Park in Thy Customer's Driveway

I don't let my guys park on the customer's driveway. IMHO it is rude to pull a work van onto someone else's driveway. I try to seperate my company from the cable & satellite installers. Now I am not saying my trucks look like theirs, but to me it is just polite. Also we deal with a lot of new homes, and I don't want to pull my truck on the driveway and be accused of anything (i.e. cracks, marks, oil, etc.).

Now if the customer says it is okay we will. If the driveway is exceptionally long, I will ask if we can, but I never assume it is okay to.

Funny story about cable guys. In my area Charter subs out a lot of the home installation work. A family moved in next door and ordered cable. Well, since it was a shorter walk from my driveway to the interface box he parked in my driveway. It was his unlucky day that I came home for lunch that day. Here he is in his S10 leaking oil all over my driveway. His response was that he worked for the cable company and he had a "right" to park on my driveway. I informed him of his "rights," and parking on my driveway was not one of them.
Just my opinion, I could be wrong.
