I was in CC last night looking through their FireDog install sales book. I couldn't believe some of the photos, terrible looking installs, and these are the ones they are showing off. I kept flipping and the photos started repeating themselves. I saw at least six pictures of the same twelve installs.

If you've got some free time and want a laugh go into CC let them give you the FireDog pitch. I've never felt better about my skillz.

I was in CC today with one of my family members helping them buy a new TV (40" Samsung LCD for less than my cost with no payments and no interest until 2008, no way I would touch that).

When we got up to the counter to write it up the 20 year old kid asked us, "Are you guys going to be using Digital."

My immediate smartass reply was, "Digital what?" I figured we about to hear about the magic of M******* cable.

His reply was, "Digital. You're buying a digital television, you're going to want to go digital."

Again I asked, "Digital what?"

He replied, "Do you have DVD or Satellite?"

"Yes," I replied.

He said that "Since you have Satellite, you already have digital."

I said, "Digital Audio or Video?" I figured I would help him out a little.

He said, "Video."

"Oh, so how do I hook that up?" I replied.

He told me to use an S-Video cable and we would be fine.

The reason that I made my comments is that I can't think of an example of a business who has similar overhead as their largest competitor, yet seemingly is getting soundly beaten by an apparently large margin.

Good call on the cargo pants... I saw this article on Tuesday and I knew I would be reading about it on here soon. Totally missed the pants though. There is only 12 rules listed and every person in the picture is wearing cargos!! LMAO Even the guy on the cover!!!

Gives you some insight to thier attention to detail....

My favorite is the guy who's carrying boxes into the customer's house, and he's wearing them too. The only way it gets better is if he's parked in their driveway and visible piercings.

I was thinking about applying and putting on my resume that I have a Prince Albert, but I rarely show it to customers.

Well, being a true Firedog requires putting out fires in all directions; not just the direction that you happen to be facing at the time.

It is my belief that a fire retarding substance should be best applied in a conical pattern. Should Firedog ever branch out into professional or commercial applications, the pattern of fire retardent would then be revised into a cardiod or super cardiod pattern, but never omnidirectional for obvious reasons.

Has anyone read this month's CE PRO yet?

Within the article is a list of Circuit City's regulations
regarding Firedog contractors. Among those regulations
are "no denim or 'cargo' pants".

Alright, so it's been well over a year since I started this thread, but I happened to wander into a Circuit City/Firedog location today, and what did I find????

Virtually ALL of the Firedog people wearing denim pants.

All in all though, it was a good experience. I came in looking for a 50' VGA cable and I was helped by someone who didn't know what a VGA cable is. Keep up the good work Firedoggers.

Does CC still have their sales people wear those ugly red blazers?

However, every photo that's shown of Firedog personelle
shows them wearing nothing but tan 'cargo pants'.

Now isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?

Another regulation that's written in stone on top of Mount
Firedog.....

Thou Shalt Not Park in Thy Customer's Driveway

To which, I would politely respond.......

Thou Shalt Remove Thy Corporate Elongated Ass from Behind
Thy corporate Cubicle to Carry 500 Pounds of Gold, Francincense
and Bose through 40 Leagues of Snow and Pestilance in
Thy Non-Denim Pants.

I think I peed on myself a little bit after reading this... Damn thats funny. Im still laughing.

i was tricked into the "wonderful world" of firedog contract installations when my business had slowed down for a bit last year. i was in the fold for 5 months and the fold early suffocated and bankrupted me. the jobs were all over creation, the schedule was rediculous, and they always paid less than they owed and very ( 2 months ) late. they scheduled appointments every 2 hours. this was supposed to give you time to drive to where ever in BFE the job was, explain to the customer that the store had lied to them about what their equipment could do AND where it could be installed (satallite on north side of condo). then if you actually were allowed to install the partial equipment they were sold with little to no iterconects and almost never was there power conditioning, you really only had 45 mins to do a "proper" install. what made it worse was there were other guys in my territory that had been working with CC for 12+ years doing installs and they "knew all there was to know about A/V installs". they were actually arrogant a holes, who knew mostly how to be just that, and little more. these guys were the epitomy of what we talk about in here when we discuss CC or BB installs. and damn, wanna talk about brainwashed, MONSTER must be a direct creation of GOD, don't dare walk into a CC and question the integrity of monster corporation. why wouldn't i use a power conditioner that says in the owners manual "unplug this equipment during a lightning storm", wtf. CC has fired or layed all of its experienced staff, and to make things even funnier, the CEO of CC sold all of his stock 2 weeks ago. HHMMMM maybe that is a sign of things to come. LOL i wish them everything they have earned.
