I'm using PEP version 2.4.23.0 on a Windows 10 VM (VMware Fusion) in my MacBook Pro. PEP was running great for me for years... I hadn't used PEP for about 7 or more months, but I had a need to make a configuration change. I fired it up, made my change, and tried to Download the change to my TSU9400. I got the error below. I searched this forum, and other folks have reported a similar issue, so I tried 3 different things, none of which worked:

1. Reinstall PEP version 2.4.23.0. Note: things that have changed since my PEP was last working include: installation of Visual Studio, update of VMware Fusion Pro from version 10.x to 11.0 and regular Windows updates.
2. Change ProntoDataService to start as a specified account
3. Try to disable HID USB devices

So, I'm at wits end on how to get download to work again.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks...

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Try this - Please keep in mind that I'm running Win7 32-bit with UAC so not up on Windows 8, 10, etc...

1. Try updating firmware on the remote. If you can update firmware then we know your computer can talk to the remote as the firmware updater uses the same DLL to communicate with the remote that the software uses.

2. If #1 was successful, then try running PEP2 in Administrator Mode (Run as Administrator) and see if that works. If it does not, then try turning off UAC.

3. If #2 does not work, then try an uninstall, reinstall as Administrator, then try as a regular user in Admin Mode. (be sure to backup your gallery, MyDatabase, and other things prior to uninstalling if you change them).

Well, I was never able to resolve the problem I mentioned in my original post. Running Windows 10 in a VM used to work, but something must have changed (either Windows or VMWare Fusion or my Windows configuration) that prevented me from being able to download. So, I just used an old 2011 MacBook Air running Windows 7 in Bootcamp to download my Pronto config. But, unfortunately, my old 2011 MacBook Air won't power on anymore (I suspect the power supply went bad, so I just ordered on).

Meanwhile, I installed PEP 2.4.23.0 in an MSI Laptop running Windows 10. With a USB mouse, USB keyboard, and the Pronto connected to a USB hub, the download would fail (gets stuck at 97% or so). The keyboard and mouse acted flaky (stopped working so I have to unplug them and plug them back in). Moreover, with the Pronto plugged into the hub, an E: drive would show up. Somehow, Windows thought the Pronto was an E: drive. So, I unplugged the USB hub, and connected the Pronto directly to my laptop. Problem solved!

So, hope things work for a while... I was afraid I'd have to purchase a Windows 7 license (I have a number of Windows 7 licenses, but they are all OEM, so theoretically, I can't reuse the OEM licenses in a new PC or VM). Anyway, I hope my old 2011 MacBook Air with Windows 7 bootcamp works once the power supply that I ordered arrives. I'd like a stable (i.e. doesn't change) laptop to use for Pronto so I don't have to worry about configuration changes or Windows software causing me problems with Pronto...
