The extender (RFX9600) communicates with the Vigor router in a lower as normal speed - 10base-T (10Mbit) that must be the explanation for the orange LAN connector light, according to the Vigor router manual.
I tried it on another Vigor router and get the same orange light.
Is this normal? Or can I change this in the extender or router? (maybe stupid question)
Maybe I am to much focused on and obsessed by this nasty orange light.
I filled in the ipadres and gateway (router adres) in the extender and in the Pronto software. The extender simply does not work.

If you have run out of all options and still want to try something you could start up Prontonic on your computer. Set the extender ip in the pronto pro editor to your computer and press a extender enabled button on your remote. If you see a bunch of packets in the Prontonic program then the TSU9600 can indeed talk with your wired network. So the problem might then be with the extender.

Hi Xetick,

Thank you for your nice program, Prontronic.
However it won't work, I think I am doing something very wrong...

In your 'how to use' text, point 3: "Set the ip address to the computer you are going to run the prontonic program on....."
Normally I have a DHCP setting but changed the ip adress (just to try) to a unique adress 192.168.1.201 subnetmask 255.255.255.0 and the gateway to the router ip adress 192.168.1.1.
I followed your points 4,5,6 and 7 and added a button with an RS232 command on a page...
In the wireless setting I set my computer ip address, gateway, SSID, WEP password etc.
I downloaded the program to my TSU9600.
When I start up your program and press the button, the "connecting" message changes a short time into a "command failed" message.
The real RFX9600 extender is still connected to my network(?)
The screen of your program does not change when pressing the button, no list of packets...
Do I have to set the tools - options Proxy settings of your program?

What am I doing wrong?

Mike

Thanks for those kind words. =)

Do you have a real RFX9600 extender if so is it position on for example "extender 0" in the "System properties->Extenders" list? Have you then added a new "extender 1" with "Use fixed ip" checked with the ip set to your computer ("192.168.1.201")?
If that's the case you need to make sure you choose the correct extender on the button that had the RS232 command. If you open up the action properties for that button you will see a "Selected extender". Make sure it's the one that points to you computers address. "Extender 1" in the example above.
Also "In the wireless setting I set my computer ip address" if you mean "Wireless setting->IP Address" then that shouldn't be you computers ip address. It's the address of the Pronto so in you case possibly "192.168.1.202" should work if that address is free.
Lastly check the pronto logs by hold Backlight+Hard button2+Menu at the same time.

Hi Xetick,

I followed your tips, but I think it's a waste of time and Philips has a lot to explain, maybe with a new firmware update and a clear manual.
It is remarkable that there more threads now about the 'mysterious' orange light of the router.
I think I have to take some patience and maybe time will solve the problems.

Thank you for your help,

Mike

Mike,

I think there 's nothing mystereous in having an orange light on the router as it is clearly expained in the manual. The RFX9600 uses indeed a 10Mb/s network connection which is fast enough for this appliance (the TSU9600 is WiFi, or 11 Mb/s in ideal circumstances but average more in the 8Mb/s range)

Actually the TSU9600 is 802.11g so it's up to 54Mbit. So the wifi is faster than the wired thats 10Mbit. However it's rather irrelevant anyway because what would the TSU9600 use even 10Mbit for. It sends serial command in the size of 32 bytes or small packets to the music server. So I can't agree with you more on all the pointless talk about the orange light. It has absolutely nothing to do with the problem.
So yes Mike13 you are indeed to focused on your orange light =)
