How about some screensharing and i will walk you thru the process of copying codes from the RTI IR Library into WINDEAL?

The lastest version of skype has screensharing built in. I can chat each step then show you.

You will need the following...

Crestron WinDeal
RTI Integration Designer
Latest Version of Skype

These written instructions will walk you thru the process.

Start / All Programs / Integration Designer / IR Library Manager

Choose a device on the left.

Click the HEX View tab.

You will see the HEX data. It looks like this :

0000 006C 0000 0020 000B 001E 000B 001E 000B 001E 000B 0046 000B 001E 000B 0046 000B 0046 000B 0046 000B 001E 000B 001E 000B 001E 000B 001E 000B 0046 000B 001E 000B 001E 000B 06C1 000B 001E 000B 001E 000B 001E 000B 0046 000B 001E 000B 001E 000B 001E 000B 001E 000B 0046 000B 0046 000B 0046 000B 0046 000B 001E 000B 0046 000B 0046 000B 06C1

Copy that.

Start / All Programs / Crestron / Desl For Windows / Deal for Windows

File / New /

Go thru header details. Fill out as much as possible. Ignore what you dont know. Click No to the popups (for now).

Click the Add Functions button.

Start adding all your buttons PLAY then click the ADD button STOP etc etc.

Stamp: Wow, thank you for the offer and for the step-by-step.

I've already added a few HEX codes which I got here at the forums... and it seemed to work out (so far), although I haven't been able to test b/c I don't have equipment yet.

I appreciate the offer to help walk me through this, I really do. I'm always amazed at how most users here are willing to help with issues, even if they may be competitors.

I think I'm going to sweat through this on my own for a bit though, just so I can say to myself that I gave it the effort. I'm sure I'll have questions, and I'll hit the forums.

Maybe I'll take you up on that offer one day... do you accept beer as payment?

if i use the same products most of the time,
and if i can copy and paste discretes (for new tv's etc)
than i should be fine. i dont mind learning codes,
i just dont want to have to do it at every job . .
i do try and program as much as possible before the job.

but what about modules for two way?
rti supports this now , does prodigy have
drag and drop two way modules.

Motech, the module situation is pretty much the same as IR. You will find a Denon Receiver but its unlikely you will find a brand new model in the database. So for example if you are installing model XYX-2300. You might find XYZ-2200. In most cases this works just fine. In others you have to get out the protocol and build your own.

My advice would be to get the software, see whats already in there and attempt to design your system around that. At least until your more familiar with things.

I just realized your in Illinois. You can forget about the screen sharing! Seriously though, i don't subscribe to the competitor nonsense. I have a huge client list with names on it you wont recognize and i assume you have one with names i have never seen. Point being that your clients are yours and mine are mine. We don't advertise, were 100% referral based so everyone we work for knows someone we worked for so the idea that anyone else has a shot at them is foreign to me.

Beer is good but i prefer kudos & bragging rights. I am the guy who is happy when hes given a meaningless title at work in place of a raise :). I am currently the "Leading assistant to the primary assistant lead installer". If that doesnt scream "accomplished" i don't know what does.

Haha. Awesome.

Congratulations on not having to advertise. That is a beautiful thing!

I'm slowly building towards that. Right now roughly 60% of our business is from networking or referrals. It's nice to have those jobs, but it isn't enough to carry the company.

Oh, and since you love titles, I hereby proclaim you "Assistant to the assistant director of the department of redundancy department"

Now that's a title we should all be proud to have.

:-)

Just put a system in yesterday and found the Prodigy Composer and SystemBuilder has a bug. When I would first load the system, everything would be fine. Then while working the kinks out I would make some changes and download again, then the PLX2 would no longer work....at all. If you rebuild, redownload, whatever you did it would not work. So I started four projects yesterday all ending the same way, 90% complete with no way to fix the error.

Talked to tech support and they are aware of the issue, but there is currently no fix for the bug. Then I had a bright idea, one I wish I would have had two hours before, load the program from Toolbox. It fixed the problem!!!

Long story short, load the PLX2 from SystemBuilder and the PMC2 from Toolbox if you have this issue.

One thing to keep in mind is Crestron updates software often. Sometimes things stop working, it could be IP table not correctly loaded or Video not working etc. I love Crestron stuff but one does need to be aware that they push out cutting edge stuff and sometimes the programmers are beta testers.

Open up a System Builder project from 2 years ago and recomiple with some manual adds/changes and see if the system acts the same... Don't think so.

Something to keep in mind.

I finally got a chance to do a little more messing around with our prodigy system today. I thought I'd throw up a couple of things I found that may save someone some time if they come across them.

The ipod dock is in desperate need of an update. It takes quite a long time to load the library when you first dock it. Crestron is aware of this and already has firmware for some other dock pieces, just not prodigy yet.

Diesel mentioned the bug with the plx2 when trying to reload program fixes. This burned up a tremendous amount of my time also, but his fix is 100% for right now.

Now heres one for you that gets chalked up to user error. I think I ran into this because of the way we set up our test equipment, and could be the reason why tech support couldn't figure out what was going on either. I just happened to stumble across the root of the problem as I was messing around in the wizard. The PMC2 lands by default in a room named theater. You can rename the room, but it has to stay in the program and house the processor. I have it on our tech bench with the receiver, DVD, and ipod dock. I have light loads in the break room and office. The office also has the touch panel and the thermostat in it. I would load the program and would have it working 99%. What I was missing was light control on the PLX2 remote, it just said "no lighting control, contact your system integrator", even though the lighting worked fine from the touch panel. The trick is you have to assign the theater room(tech bench in my case) to be a lighting room, even if there is no light loads in it. Then it loads ALL lighting rooms on the remote.
Quality over quanity, that's how I make my mistakes....

Not just Crestron. A basic rule for us at the end of a project is to record the version numbers of all software used and store them with the customers files. At our office we have 2 Phast laptops with different version of the software installed. We have a Crestron application builder laptop and a Crestron SmartTouch laptop. And we have a super old laptop thats only used for programming an AudioEase system. It gets powered up every other year when a TV or dvd player needs to be replaced :).

Can someone explain to me the dealer application and ordering procedure for Prodigy?

I filled out all of the application forms a couple of months ago and was told all I needed to proceed was to place an opening order. So I did that over a week ago thinking my order would be processed immediately and it would only be a matter of a few weeks before receiving the demo kit. Well, after a week of submitting the purchase order, I was told I was approved and my order was being sent to the purchasing department. I called a day later and that department hadn't received it yet. I was also told I would be receiving an invoice before the payment is put through? I'm set up to pay in advance by credit card.

I would at least like to get an account number soon so that I can download some software. How long does this take?

I've never jumped through so many hoops to make a simple purchase. The exact opposite of my AVAD experience. What's going on here and is this how long the wait always is? What kind of lead time do you guys put into ordering?
