I tried contacting them, but got message that I was past cut off and they state "As of 3/1/2022 we can no longer offer any version of software to our end user community"

I cannot now get my old CCP software to work.......... my version is from 2014 (ver 1.4.034.1217)......... Its installed and opens but none of my remotes old files will load.

If anyone willing to help please message me

{UPDATE} After another contact URC provided me with an account...... so worth persevering!

Oh boy, I am in a similar situation. Have not needed to update my MX 980 for quite some time and discover this change. Could someone share the updated files or other option with me??? Willing to send you good thoughts forever!!!!
Thanks!

So, last November I signed up for an account.
URC Dealer Portal sent me an email with my username & password.

I just tried opened the app for the first time in a long time today, and it did an update and is now suddenly forcing me to log in.
So, I used the username & password that URC gave me but it says "Login Failure" when I log in with that.

What gives?

I didn't want to contact URC given that they're not making any money off of me.
But I ended up doing so and it turns out that I had changed my password and forgot.
They had sent me an email when I first signed up with a password and that's the password (old) that I had been trying to use.
They sent me a new email with my changed password and now I'm able to log into the app.

Weird that the old password still works on the portal.

Caution:  Don't use your bank password because it gets delivered by email in plain text which can be intercepted.

Hmm, the dealer portal website is letting me log in.
It's just the CCP that's not.

Is nobody else having this problem?

Your post prompted me to try my login as I’ve not used it since registering.

Mine logged in with no problems. I’d email URC about it.

I'm pretty unhappy that my legit purchased MX-990 can't be programmed anymore. I purchased my remote back in January 2019. I was able to get it programmed and have been using it for years. It's been great. Now that I need to program a replacement receiver and I try opening CCP, it hangs. I find this thread and it looks like I missed my opportunity to register for a portal login. I did just email the address on the portal page:

[email protected]

We'll see if they respond.

EDIT:

Whelp, that email address is not working. I got a bounce back. So I also need to know which email address others are using.

I'm not sure what email address people are using, but was curious where you purchased your remote, if you don't mind me asking.

For those of you who are, like me, late tot he party. I've send a message to URC using their "Contact Us" page and they've created a user account, no questions asked.

Same with me, took a few days, but only because my emails with the model numbers did not arrive when sent from my desktop, but did form my phone. I have had the login info but not had time to user it yet.

**UPDATED**

Got my "End User" creds today, and everything seems fine. Hope everyone is having the same experience.

Original post:

Speaking of late to the party . . . Just sent in my request for credentials as a "consumer". Will post results when I get them. So sad to see this development. Their products were so popular for so long, it's gonna make retracting the original "if they want it, they can have it" software policy really difficult. Just wish I didn't have to make changes right this minute.

I looked into the sofabaton once.  The thing that wasnt clear to me was can you run multiple remotes with the same base station?  The X1 looks pretty promising.

I bought a couple of the new X1's - TL;DR they suck pretty hard and have major issues - I documented most of them here:

[Link: bbs.sofabaton.com]

and then one of my dogs destroyed the screen on 1 of them and it was even more downhill from there.

I've basically thrown them both into my junk drawer and bought an MX-980 (to replace my worn out MX-810) and an MX-900 to replace my Harmony One.

Luckily for me I have CCP and MX-900/980 Editor software from ~2009 so oneway or another I should be ok.

Yep!  I ended up creating this PowerShell file:

reg delete "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Universal Remote Control, Inc\Complete Control Program\Recent File List" /f
& "C:\Program Files (x86)\Universal Remote Control, Inc\Complete Control Program\ccp.exe"
exit 0

I saved it as

C:\Program Files (x86)\Universal Remote Control, Inc\Complete Control Program\ccp.ps1

and edited the start menu icon so the so the "Target" says:

C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File "C:\Program Files (x86)\Universal Remote Control, Inc\Complete Control Program\CCP.ps1"

You have to first find the icon in the Start Menu, right-click and hit "Open File Location", then right-click the Shortcut and hit "Properties".

So at least it is partially automated.

Just to add some additional info - I was able to install my 2009 edition of CCP in a Windows 7 VM on my intel Mac. Then I ran through the huge update and backed up the "URCFrame.exe" file.

I then ran the next update, which breaks the PowerShell hack. So I replaced the "URCFrame.exe" file with the previous version and the PowerShell hack works again. 👍

I imagine this method should keep most of us going for a fair while.

This is very encouraging! Just sent in a request, fingers crossed.
