Personally I would try entering a number instead of a letter for the first digit;
no idea if this will work but it is worth a try.

You, my friend, are a freakin' genius. I replaced the "A" with a number and the download is in process. Now I just need to find that damn USB-to-Serial adapter cable...

Of course, I'm hopin' that I'll be able to get the "updateable" software from BlueDo

Again sunstar, thank you!

Anyone tried post 145?

Yep, I checked it out based upon what I saw in Post145 and something over in AVSForums. If there is a link for software downloads there, I'm overlooking it. Of course, that could be the case ...

Also, I'd like to apologize...I just realized that this should have properly been posted over in the other URC forum...since I'm talking about the MX-700 remote...

My apologies...

Additionally, BlueDo e-mailed me the info necessary to download the software.

Thanks all around...

Right after that post appeared I downloaded that installation file (the link was easy to find, so things must've changed since then) but haven't ever opened it. I was just wondering if someone else had.

I have an MX-3000 that I bought on E-Bay complete with the MRF-250 and the software. My current versions are as follows - Editor 1.20.154, IRDB 1.76, Manager 2.20.213.50420.

I went to the Live Update and it tells me that I am not an authorized dealer. They referred me to the password protected web site to get the latest software.

When I remove the battery, the label says the following: MX-3000 N3, 083105 030464. I presume the date of mfr was 8/31/05 but I have no idea was version is the latest software.

Other than becoming a registered Salesman/Dealer, how can I get my software updated? Is the hardware an old version or is it recent?

Dick.

You need to contact your dealer, who can provide you with the software.

Since you bought it on ebay, you'll have to contact the ebay seller and ask them.

Did you get it used or new from ebay?

It said NIB, but a quick look at the CD, I can see it has been used. I do not believe a dealer sold me the unit. I presume it was owned by an individual.

Remember that new remotes for the past year plus DO NOT ship with software on CD, so it's hard to use the condition of a user-created CD as a judge of newness.

Well I have good news. Even though the Live Update button in the Editor did not work, I tried going straight to the URC site.

I went to the Support/Download site, and filled out the form. At the bottom of the form, it asks for where I purchased the unit. I added the name and address of the seller on E-Bay and my serial number. They even had a drop down box for where I bought it, such as retail, and included a selection for On-Line Auction.

When I completed the information, it began to download the latest software, including the latest IR data base.

My guess is that even though Live Update will not work from within the Editor, it appears that you can download the latest software directly from the URC site.

It all works great. My only problem is with my Pioneer Plasma Monitor which is not in the data base. I found the codes at the Pioneer web site and downloaded the file. I have no idea how to bring these codes into the Editor.

Similar to DSIGRIS, I just purchased a ("2 month old") 2nd-user MX3000 - without knowing anything about this issue. :-( So I am playing "catchup" to some degree.... so please don't flame toooo much...

Anyway, following instructions in this thread, I have at least managed to "register" my remote on the URC website, and have downloaded the programming software. The ".exe" within the zip file is dated 2007-05-22 - so "relatively" recent. Once installed, it does not have the "Online Update" facility. If I do "Help"->"About", I get the following information:

- Editor Version 1.20.154
- Emulator Version 2.23.2007.125
- IRDB Version 1.80
- Manager Version: 2.23.2007.228
(Copyright 2004 by URC)

The version history on the URC website shows that the Editor Version number has not changed since April 24th 2004 (being 1.20.154); except for two other functional updates, the main thing that changes is the IRDB Version. And so to the questions:

1/ Given the Editor Version number, does this mean that anyone who manages to download off the URC website at this time, has the latest version of Editing Software (e.g. including any rolled-up added functionality and bug fixes for v1.20.154, up to the date of the file within the zip [2007-05-22 in my case])? Is the version number for those that are able to make use of the "Online Update" facility, different?

2/ Given the file date within the zip, and the fact that my "Help"->"About" shows IRDB v1.80 (weird that v1.80 is not actually listed in the version history...), am I only one step behind the very latest version of the IRDB, that even those with "Online Update" facility have access to? Or are the IRDB versions listed in the version history, completely independent of the IRDB available via the Online facility?

3/ My Remote versions are:
- OS: 4.20.003.007N2 (April 19 2006)
- Program/Firmware: 2.23.5.60627
Are there newer versions? If there are, would I only be able to update the firmware/OS in the remote, if I had the "Online Update" version of the programming software? (which I assume would not only have access to/be able to download the new firmware, but would also have the added functionality to actually update the remote with it..??)

For comparisons, would someone with access to the "Online Update" version of the software be willing to post their "Help"->"About" information here...?? And also post the latest remote hardware OS/Firmware versions?

Thanks,

Let me get this straight. If I buy a used URC product, I cannot download software updates. If I buy a new URC product, but then sell it, I must disclose to the buyer that THEY cannot download software updates. What an interesting way to build a loyal customer base! I sure am glad I found these threads BEFORE I bought a URC product.

Theoretically you could just give them the updatable software that you downloaded.
