Custom Installation professionals should go to The Control Room and download URC programming software. Then they’ll have zero problems. URC will continue to aggressively pursue unauthorized dealers and those who illegally traffic our software.

We understand that there are some do-it-yourselfers who would like to use URC professional products. A URC authorized dealer may decide to provide them with software.

Under no circumstances will URC supply CCP programming software to end users. We can refer any end user to dealers in their locality.

However, only a dealer can decide that they want to support an end user learning how to use professional software. The dealer has the right to download URC programming software, burn it to a CD and provide it to a client. However, because of the support necessary, few dealers like to do this.

No dealer is allowed to provide an end user with access to URC control room. The site is for pros only, and the resources on it are not available to end users in any circumstance.

Best Regards,

-Eric

Eric,

Thank you for the information and link. I was able to access and download the software for the mx 3000 editor, but unfortunately it still does not allow a "live update".

I have just purchased a new DirectTv hr20 HD/DVR reciever and am hoping to locate a file for the device (in lieu of me programming all the buttons). Any idea where I may be able to access this file?

Thanks again for the help.

Graham

The HR20-700 is not in the database yet as it just came out a few weks ago and is only available in certain areas. You may be able to use some of the commands for the H20, but it would probably be easier to learn them.

Thank you. I was just hoping to get lucky and save some time (unable to access live update any longer with the editor, so i figured I would ask).

Thanks again!

Eric, I have tried many times and I am not able to download the SW from the URC site using the Serial # of the remote. Can you Email the "MX_800setup.exe " program, or how can I get the SW and/or CD.

If anyone is having trouble getting software for your
remote, simply open the battery compartment, note the
serial number, then navigate to this site:

Just received my MX-700 from Buy.com. I was confused when the package didn't come with any software. Then I started my search and finally ... thankfully ... found this post.

I've swapped a few E-mails with Buy.com asking them about the "Before you can create an account on URC Control Room, you must get a registration code, available only from your Distributor or URC Sales Rep." issue. They say they have no information beyond what they list on their web site, adding that I may return my remote if I desire.

I realize that the above link will get me the latest software, but ... still, it does seem like I'm slightly stuck between a rock and a ... uhm ... soft place?

Thanks again, Eric, for the above link, without which I would own a useless remote.

Um need I mention AUTHORIZED DEALER?

xxray, you might need to contact BlueDo. What you've suggested is software piracy, essentially.

And this isn't the correct forum for this. The other URC forum is for the HTM series, this is for complete control.

I sort of disagree when you say this is "software piracy". While technically URC may claim a legal right to control distribution of the software, its hard to see how they are actually being harmed when someone gives away a copy, since the software costs nothing.

Also, since the software was freely downloadable by anyone until very recently, it clearly (to me) would not be piracy to give someone one of those earlier copies since URC failed to make any attempt to control distribution of that software.

There have been a few with older MX Remotes that had touble registering on URC's Site. On the older MX Remotes there is a different serial number format that cannot be directly entered on URC's Site. I have posted the following for those that have a serial number in the format xxxx yyyyyy.

I believe that the x's denote the manufacture date and the y's denote the serial number. An example would be 0703 012345. When you input the serial number choose a letter in the drop down menu and enter your serial number twice (once in each blank). The above example would be entered as K 012345 012345. If this doesn't work try one of the other letter combos such as KR, KB12 or KB13 in the drop down menu or leave it blank.

Since this post is a sticky I thought it would be a good place to post this information.

Edited serial number (only six digits not seven digits as noted by dsinder in following post).

My mx-700 sn appears to be in the form:

A?#.#.#AA#

where A is a letter, # is a digit, ? is either the digit 0 or the letter O, and the . is what appears to be a decimal point.

What would I enter? The registeration form permits only six characters in each space so the example sunstar gives with 7 characters can not be right.

I have the MX-3000 and there is no serial number underneath the battery. Could it be located in another place?

I went to Eric's page, and filled out the form. After 3 tries, I got it to accept my serial number. My browser went to the next page, but there was no software there.

Nothing has appeared at the email address I used to register either.

What gives?

What is supposed to happen after you click submit? Is the sofware emailed to me, or is it downloaded from a web page I somehow didn't get to?

Not under the cover persay, but inside the battery chamber under the batteries.

If you don't see it after removing the batteries then the serial number may have been removed to hide who it was originally sold to. Contact the people you bought the remote from first.

It's on a white sticker normally under the batteries. Not real permenant for as important as it now is, maybe URC should make it unremovable as well as not able to fall off.

Maybe something that would show up in the display when 2 buttons were pushed would be nice, this would be more trouble for URC but they ARE the ones now making it so important for the serial number to be with the remote.
