Weaknesses:limited functionality
Review:i got the rm-402 and had high hopes, but what can you expect at this price? i have a sony trinitron xbr tv and the remote does everything i want to that out of the box. but i also have a kenwood vr-209 receiver and a toshiba 6 disc dvd changer. i can control some things on both, but the major pieces i need apparently cant be done. specifically, i cannot set the reciever to "DVD" mode. i can get it to go to all other modes, but not DVD. and i cant get the dvd player to change discs. if i could do both of those seemingly simple operations, this remote would have been perfect for me. i've tried all the remote codes for each component in the sheet that came with the remote. i've even tried codes not on the sheet. cant get it to do those two operations. if i didnt get it on ebay, i'd return it. ($12 including shipping) i'll probably give harmony a shot next.

Review:I saw this in BestBuy for $20, and immeadiately picked it up. I figured, hey, it's a Sony, and most of my equipment is Sony, so I shouldn't have too much of a problem.

When I got it home, I found that was not entirely the case. Worked out of the box with my TV (two year old WEGA), but does not seem to support my Sony HT receiver at all. Dunno if that means that the receiver is AV1 or AV2, and don't really want to spend the time researching it.

For the price, it's a good remote, but as the main review says " what they can’t do, they can’t do". It's a handsome remote, and pretty well matches the latest silver trim which Sony devices are sporting. But that shouldn't be the sole high point.

I'll end up returning it.
