Strengths:Solid feel, ease of use, worked right the first time!
Weaknesses:I would love to be able to change the text on the keys!
Review:I have the Sime SUR-20 version that I picked up for $40 on eBay and I love it. It is a well engineered device with few flaws. It has been the first universal remote that I have continued to use after the "new" wore off.

Review 20 made on Saturday January 18, 2003 at 4:24 PM.
Strengths:Easy to program
Handles up to 8 devices
Looks pretty cool
Weaknesses:Didn't work with my DVD player!
Ugly dark patch in the top-middle of the lit display
"Keys" a little small - easy to mis-press
bit too heavy - can be quite hard to hold - it seems to want to be dropped!
Review:Due to the ease of programming, I was all set up and ready to roll in under 10 minutes, but that's when I hit a huge problem - the remote could not control my Grundig DVD player correctly!

For some reason the first keypress would correctly perform the function, but then further keypresses would be ignored until a different key was pressed. No amount of reprogramming fixed this, so back it went.

I exchanged this remote for a One for All Kameleon which works perfectly (but costs more, at least in the UK!)

Strengths:Ease of use and great controls and flexibility
Weaknesses:None
Review:I am posting this only to add to Brett's comments. He has helped me tremendously to get X10 codes to work with my SUR-20 (Same as UCommand 515) and for that I send my gratitude. If you have ever tried this or are planning to, don't be discouraged. I was close to giving up, but Brett continued to tell me to have patience. After reading Brett's comment, just follow these instructions to finalize the ability to program the SUR or UCommand 515 with X10:
Start by using the manual to acclimate yourself with programming the remote. Read the X10 remote instructions to place the remote into IR mode instead of RF. After you are comfortable programming the SUR or UCommand remote, line the 2 remotes up, press the x10 correlating number QUICKLY time and time again until the SUR remote says OK. In other words, press the x10 remote about 10 times as quick as you can while the SUR coorelating button is blinking in learn mode. Worked like a charm with the dimmers and all. A few may require you to go back a second time and program, but I messed with this for nearly 2 days. Then I found this way and it took only about 1 minute to program them all.

If you can't figure it out, don't hesitate to e-mail me.

Strengths:Price for performance; touch screens are sexy to all guests; initial teaching is easy, took me 5 min!
Weaknesses:No hard buttons, this is a big one!
But OK for the price
Review:Great initial experience, and still happy. $100 bucks can't be beat! If this thing craps out in a year big deal. If a super $400+ one does I'd be pissed! At this price I can justify replacing it with better technology sooner. It learned everything I gave it (7 components).

Review 16 made on Friday February 8, 2002 at 3:33 PM.
Strengths:Great Versatility, Loaded with options. Cheap, with many of the options found on expensive LCD style remotes. Interaction between menu screens is Very Fast. Macro feature is also Great!
Weaknesses:No hardware keys. You actually have to look at the remote to see which button your pressing. (Can't just feel around for the Channel up Key.)

No RF capablity. I'd like to be able to operate my SAT box without having to leave it out in the open.
Review:Overall for a remote less than 90bucks its a great investment. Will take a little time to figure it out, but once you do you'll be in love with it.

If your considering this remote buy it you won't be dissappointed.

I've also seen an Identical Remote with the exact same everthing by the manufacturer SIMA.
