I have a failing URC that I want to replace. I have this teamed up with a MRF-250. I currently have all the equipment in another room with exception of the tv.

Current equipment:

Panasonic TH50PX50 tv
Sony Playstation 3
Directv HR-20
Kenwood VR-305 (being replaced this year)

I have a bit of technical experience and do not mind programming or tinkering with a remote. My current remote does not control my PS3, I mainly use it for playing games or streaming movies from my media server. I do not plan on any type of home automation. I might add a few more devices later on down the road. Budget wise I would have to say 300 or less, but I am open to options a little above.
I do not have a preference on styles whether it's wand style or tablet style.

You won't find any IR/RF remote that will natively control a PS3 without an adapter. The weak link may be the MRF250, but you haven't really said what issues you are having, so I wouldn't blame the TX1000 quite yet, especially if a lesser expensive solution would work. So what's the issues you have in controlling your gear?

Its is not a question of controlling the gear. the URC worked ok. But the hard buttons are starting to fail as well as I recently lost use half the touch screens display.
I understand the PS3 adapter issue. If I can get something that will control it hey I am a happy person, but not being able to control it is not a deal breaker. I am looking for something reliable and that will handle most of the gear I have now and what few items I might add on later. And that it needs to be rf because nothing is visable with the exception of the tv. I have already picked the Home Theater receiver that I am will be replacing the Kenwood with (Onkyo TX-NR708.) Thank you for your response.

I am having the same issue with my URC TX-1000. THe majority of the hard buttons just started to fail. I was hoping that I might be able to open the remote up and clean it out. Sorry to hijack the thread, but does anyone have any idea how to open the remote, and/or if there is a known solution to this issue. Buying a new remote would not be the best option (for the wife).

Thanks in advance

Seth

A bit ring rusty?

I think you're more likely to get an answer if you ask here.
