I am having the same issue with my URC TX-1000. THe majority of the hard buttons just started to fail. I was hoping that I might be able to open the remote up and clean it out. Sorry to hijack the thread, but does anyone have any idea how to open the remote, and/or if there is a known solution to this issue. Buying a new remote would not be the best option (for the wife).
