This might be a new question for the forum, but I need a powerful remote for my boat. The goal would be to sit on the beach 50 feet away from my anchored boat and adjust the volume and song from my beach chair. The boat has a Clarion cdm5 with a 600 Watt JL Audio system. The small remote that came with the CDM5 just isn't cutting it. Any suggestions?
Note: At home I have Aeros RF (w/ booster) and its amazing! I'd love to use it on the boat however the booster needs power and that isn't really an option without making this a big project.

Look at getting an RTI RP-1 and U1 remote, Its RF and U1 is waterproof..great for Pools and now maybe a boat
will be pricey though
Or a URC remote and base unit,,Put the remote in a ziplock bag

There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far. |

I'm not too concerned about whether or not its waterproof. I have kids, bring food and all types of things that cant get wet. The remote doesn't have to be fancy, just powerful. Any recommendations on remotes with model numbers (I would even buy used on ebay).
What does a base unit look like? Does that require power?
Thanks again!

If you are looking to buy online, and DIY, then RTI is out. Stick with URC. Without a budget, we can't accuratly recomend a remote system. All base units require power, but then again, so does your radio.

wire up a small power inverter to the same circuit that your stereo is wired to. you are limiting yourself by worrying about your power issue. heck, even a small portable unit that plugs into a standard 12v outlet would be good enough for an RF base station.
I did a Nevo Q50 with Nevoconnect base station a couple weeks ago on a boat (82' Viking) and extended the base station antenna with some LMR240. I can walk 200' feet away from the boat and still control the Salon stereo system.

I'm looking at a budget of $100 or so and would be willing to buy off e-bay if someone could suggest model numbers of certain remotes to target.
Basically, going with something like the Nevo Q50 is out of the question, just too many bells and whistles. If it were for the house, that would be another story. On the boat, I just need to control volume and click to the next song... but, I need distance.
Any futher suggestions? Thanks guys...
