Hi, I have just purchased the Home Theater items below and am awash in single remotes. Please recommend a universal remote that can easily do it all or at least a lot:

Panasonic 42G15 plasma TV
LG BD390 Blu-Ray Player
Sony HT CT100 Sound Bar
Phillips DVP5990/F7 DVD Player (accepts DVD's from all regions)
Optimum Cablevision HD DVR Cable Box

Thanks! I am a true neophyte so all tips will be appreciated.

Do you want a RF remote so you can put the devices in a cabinet or closet, or will they all be IR line-of-sight?
Keep in mind that if you build a macro (activity) to turn on the TV/Audio/Cable/DVD and switch the inputs of these, using IR only you'll have to point the remote at the stack of gear while the entire macro fires, otherwise you may lose a step.
RF eliminates the need to point and hold.

Everything is in line of sight, so no need for RF. I am hoping not to have to turn everything on and off individually. I'll appreciate your suggestions.

I am also wondering if any of the existing remotes can be programmed to handle multiple devices.

IR only, you could use a URC R50. This would either have the codes preprogrammed in it or you could learn them from the factory remote.

Possibly the cable remote. Do they show selections for other devices? Chances are you may be able to use one of these to consolidate them down to one remote, but unlikely you'll be able to build a macro to turn on/off all of them with a single button push.

I don't think you'll be able to do all of these with the cable remote. The question about using one of your existing remotes suggests that the R50 that JoeFlabitz recommends may have more capability than you want.

Here are 3 $20 or less remotes which will control (for sure, I checked) the TV, DVD, Sound Bar, and the Blu-Ray player. I suspect that there is a setup code for the Cablevision, but if not, you could learn the signals. The remote can toggle power for all of your components, and you can program macros to select the various inputs.

RCA RCRP05B, One ForAll URC-8820N or 10820N. WIth the OFA remotes, make sure you get a N suffix, and not B00.

Thanks to both of you for the ideas. I'll look at them all.

Any sense about the Harmony 700? It looks like it would do what I need and the computer could lead me through the setup.
