I am sick of all the remotes :-) I have been contemplating an advanced universal remote but I have no clue which one to purchase. I guess I've looked most seriously at the Harmony One, the Harmony 510, the Universal R50 and the Acoustic Research ARRX18G. My equipment is as follows:

HDTV Pioneer Plasma 50" PSP-5080
AVR Yamaha RX-V800
BluRay Samsung BD-P3600
Cable/DVR Motorola DCT-6412 III (from Cox Communications)
CD Jukebox Sony CDP-CX355

Obviously, I would like to be able to streamline the process for watching tv or listening to the tuner or a cd or watching a movie...etc. I would also like to be able to access the lesser used features of each device though...such as "on demand" or device menus or record functions of the dvr or sound settings of the avr etc.

Any recommendations for a good remote?

Any one of your listed remotes would be suitable. You may want to consider button layout and graphics, and see what others say about these manufacturers on this forum.

I was just reading about the IR remotes and I too have to sometimes hold the remote up over my head to get them to work....so I may need to go in the IR direction? I'm leaning a bit more, I guess, towards the AR Touch? I see it's on sale at BB for $150 regularly $250.

You mean RF remotes (no more pointing). RF requires a RF capable remote (only the AR has that), and a RF receiver. The upside is that you don't have to point and hold the remote at your stack of gear while it spits out a 10 second macro. It also lets you hide your equipment behind a door, so little fingers will be less likely to put the peanut butter sandwich in the CD jukebox. The downside is the extra RF receiver, and setting it up correctly to eliminate interference.
So if RF is a consideration, you may also want to look at the URC MX450 or MX900 remotes and MRF260 or MRF360 RF Receivers.
