AV3000 and Discrete On/Off with Samsung SLN5065W

I have a Sony RM-AV3000 and am replacing my Sony 36" Wega with a Samsung HLN5065W. What I liked previously was being able to use Macro button 1 and 3 to turn all the equipment off or on.

Is there any way to erase the macros recorded in 1 and 3? I'm pretty sure I have tried to do this but to no avail. I have the discrete codes for On and Off for the Samsung and would like to incorportate it into On/Off macros.

Thanks in advances for the help.

Thanks for the link, Ron.

I have the RS-15-2103 remote. So if I'm understanding this correctly, all I have to do is program the remote to control the Samsung TV (using a 4-digit code). Then, I press the "P" button and then enter the 3-digit discrete code?

Do I simple press the "P" button or hold it down until I get the two blinks? My TV is still en route, but I would like to get all my information together before it arrives.

Thanks again.

Right. You enter the 4 digit code to assign the device to operate the Samsung tv. To use the discrete codes, you press the p (or setup) button once, then the 3 digits of the code. If you are going to use them in the 2103, you can key-move them to any key. I am not an expert on the 2103, but I believe you can keymove the discrete codes, even though it is not in the manual. To keymove (and these are my notes for my Cinema 7 but should work on your 2103, if not, someone will correct me):

Press and hold "p" or "setup" until it blinks
press 9-9-4
press the device key
press "p" or "setup" once
press the 3 digit advanced/discrete code
press the device button
press the key you want to use, which will then have the advanced/discrete code you assigned permanently entered

To delete a keymoved code:
Press and hold "p" or "setup" until it blinks
press 9-9-4
press the device key
press key twice

If you get another learning remote and want to use advanced/discrete codes, you can just send them to the new remote by pressing p (or setup) once and then the 3 digit code

People are being charged $200 to have discrete added to their TV's by Samsung. And then the codes are only available to pronto owners, see this thread;

I noticed the c was missing, and looked in the discrete forum for 109 but I didn't think to add the 1000. You're welcome.

Yeah. I heard that about the Samsungs. :( This started back in July and from what I have been reading, some of the TVs produced after they offered the upgrade program might have the firmware to handle discrete codes. I purchased my TV on September 10th so I'm crossing my fingers for a firmware of 214 or higher.

I didn't hear anything about it being Pronto only however. These are the codes I came across on the AVS forums.

Antenna 251
Video 1 177
Video 2 013
Video 3 017
S-Video 1 192
S-Video 2 019
S-Video 3 175
Component 1 171
Component 2 016
Component 3 179
DVI 018
PC 073

Again, hopefully my TV is ok to go with discrete codes and that I can avoid paying $200.00.

Oh, and Ron...I did a test run of trying out discrete codes with my current TV and I now understand how it works. I now have discrete buttons for Treble Up and Down!!! Go me! :)

In the AVSforum, did they mention a Setup code? You can't use advanced codes without one,and have you confirmed that it is in the 2103? It being a two year-old model of remote.

My TV was finally delievered and the discrete codes worked like a charm. I'm not sure what you mean by advance codes, but the above codes worked with the 2103.

My only problem is finding codes for discrete on and discrete off for the Samsung. Anyone have these by chance?

I don't think there are any discrete power codes for the Samsung tv. I checked the OFA site and didn't see any listed. Try posting your question in the OFA forum. Maybe with jp1 you can get some discrete codes.

Actually found some code by digging through someone's DLP keymaster codes (whatever that means).

Discrete On 001
Discrete Off 253

I used your instructions to delete everything on System 1 and System 3 so I could reprogram it for All On/Off with the Samsung TV instead. Except I ran into a problem of discrete on and off for everything else! LOL

I have discrete On and Off for the Samsung learned on the 3rd Page of the TV menu, so I started my new macro with

TV
TV x 2(at the top)
Power On (discrete, learned)

Then I got stuck. Is there an easier way to add the discrete on/off for the Samsung into the default macros in Sys1 and Sys2? Does that make sense?

The only way I can think of doing it is to find the discrete on/off codes for everything else (Amp, DVD, VCR, All Sony), program them into individual spots under some obscure component, like Tape A, then creating a Macro from that. Hope that makes sense... :(

Is there an easier way to do what I'm trying to accomplish?

You can't add the discrete Samsung codes into the preprogrammed Sony macro. Sorry, but it is either one or the other. But you should be able to find discrete codes for everything else. See this thread for discrete codes. [Link: hifi-remote.com] That is the only way to get all the discrete codes you need into your macro's. You need to click on Setup codes to find the advanced code for your equipment, and then click on the Advanced Code List to find the discrete codes.
