Right. You enter the 4 digit code to assign the device to operate the Samsung tv. To use the discrete codes, you press the p (or setup) button once, then the 3 digits of the code. If you are going to use them in the 2103, you can key-move them to any key. I am not an expert on the 2103, but I believe you can keymove the discrete codes, even though it is not in the manual. To keymove (and these are my notes for my Cinema 7 but should work on your 2103, if not, someone will correct me):
Press and hold "p" or "setup" until it blinks press 9-9-4 press the device key press "p" or "setup" once press the 3 digit advanced/discrete code press the device button press the key you want to use, which will then have the advanced/discrete code you assigned permanently entered
To delete a keymoved code: Press and hold "p" or "setup" until it blinks press 9-9-4 press the device key press key twice
If you get another learning remote and want to use advanced/discrete codes, you can just send them to the new remote by pressing p (or setup) once and then the 3 digit code
