Hello, I just bought a RM-AV3100. Is there a way to step through a macro with a key press. I am wanting to program a "News" button that will act like a favorite channel button but just for news. So when I push it the first time it changes the TV to ABC, second time changes the TV to NBC, third time to CBS, etc. I would like to have several of these buttons for stuff like sports, movie channels, etc.

Sorry, no way to program a favorite channel on the 3100.

You can't make a macro with "steps". Once you press the key, it executes the entire macro.

I have made micro-macros on many keys on my tv screen to do just what you are asking, but of course they are on separate keys and will only change the same channel each time.

If you want to do this, just place the tv remote opposite the 3100, and then quickly press the buttons you want, such as 1-1-enter. The learning time on the 3100 is long enough that 3 commands, or even 4, shouldn't be a problem, but it will take a little practice.

With the RM-AV3100, why not just use Key Macros? They can be placed on any LCD key and don't require all that learning.

Daniel is correct. I need to get a 3100 so I can understand its workings better.

You can either make a key macro (page 62), or you can learn up to 4 signals on one key (page 53).

I may be wrong, but the way I read the key macro feature, you can only use the label keys, but with the learn feature you can use any key. And the learn feature is easier than micro-macros.

Key Macros will work on any LCD-based key, not just the label ones (the RM-AV3000's old Channel Macros were limited to label keys).

The new micro macro learning feature should also work on any LCD-based key, but I could *not* get this to function as advertised.

Either (assuming the second option works for someone else) would be easier than manual micro macro learning.

I did just post my RM-AV3100 review. :-)
