Labels aren't that simple to change. The AV-2000 is not a dot-addressable device like a laptop or PDA. Those labels, and there's 4 per 'button' are etched into the display. Why? Price. Dot-addressable LCD units themselves are more expensive AND they require more sophisticated control circuits.

If you're really stuck, consider this, I have my remotes speak to a PC. The PC then handles the macros out to the devices. Virtually unlimited memory. The only downside in some circumstances is a slight delay.

The 'evil triangle' rule always applies:

Good, Fast, Cheap... pick two.

I tried to wade through much of the info contained in the questions and replies posted here. Thank you for the insight! As with many others on these pages, I am in a dilema of getting rid of 11 remotes. My major concern with the AV200 is running my Mitsubishi HDTV with the Sony STRDE915. Information seems to point away from these two components together due to their inherent input relation. I'm fortunate because I do have the option of buying the H/K or the Sony, but I have not seen any real feedback on the H/K during these discussions. It would seem that the computer interface of the H/K may solve the macro-input difficulty. Any ideas out there?

I bought the Av-21000 for $189cdn,works great;except the tuner component would not accept the Onkyo codes. It would not learn the codes from the remote either. ???
I finally programmed the Amp component for the Onkyo and copied the codes to the Tuner component key. This worked except when I press the Tuner key it turns the receiver on or off depending on it's status at the time. The auto on feature will not disengage even though the screen says it is off. Is my Remote faulty?? The salesmen do not know why it does what it does; any help would be appreciated. I have a seperate audio system and video system and the remote handles everything else fine, just this tuner key is annoying.
