My radio shack rotor just died after 3 1\2 year. After a brief search I find most do not have favorable reviews.
Can anyone recommend a good one?
I forgot What a pain it was to climbing on the roof and dismantling a Cm 4228 with a big mast

TIA

I installed a new Channel Master both on my tower and my parents (the one with the remote) and my parents didn't last a year and mine wouldn't work right when the tempreature dropped below freezing. Then it just quit working all together.

So I DO NOT recommend any off-shore crap like Channel Master's rotors. Unfortunately, that's where theyre all made now.

I was lucky, however, to snag a never been used 1971 Channel Master rotor, Model 9512 made in Ohio and still in the box, on ebay and I had a control unit, so I made the change myself.

I'm not sure if anyone else has had problems with these rotors from Channel Master, but if you do get a replacement and you're in the St. Catharines area--I do climb towers!

Near as I can tell, you can't buy a good new consumer grade rotator, period. Your options are ham-radio heavy duty units, rebuilt units and oldies. I have a newer ChannelMaster rotator. It's lasted a year and a half, but I noticed even after a year the rubber O-ring is starting to disintegrate.

Has anyone every played with this one?

Eagle Aspen ROTR100 HDTV Rotator & Controller One Cable Antenna Rotor with IR Remote Automatic Outdoor

Is it a cheap unit with a short usable life, the US price at $69.99 is awfully low for a possible quality unit?

They also have other units

Link to a website and do a search for "rotor"

I have the Channel Master 9521 ( [Link: channelmasterstore.com] ).  It's the one with the remote. It's been working fine for the past 3 years. I had one before that that lasted 15 years (no remote, just the dial that turned the rotator) It just failed due to the grease on the mechanical gears drying out. I would recommend the Channel Master.

Well after dismantling the whole antenna, mast and rotor assembly (watch out for those little ball bearings after you remove snap clip) and greased the gearing.

I rewired the rotor directly to dial rotation box THE RAT SHACK ROTOR LIVES

I traced it to a bad wire some where in the middle of the roof and ground level

And the fun part was putting all back together and placing it back on the roof
