Fox is SO strong for me in Markham... but I've been hearing that it's nearly impossible to get elsewhere, especially in the western end. I also get 49 digital without issue.

Some things that might help you with that are a rotor and a more directional antenna.

I plan to order an antenna at the end of the week.

Good job on fox! I can't see it here at all 49 digital I don't seem to be picking up
either.

Daniel, what are you using for your antenna system??

cheers

I have a vertical stack of two Televes DAT-75 UHF antennas, plus a Wade VHF antenna, going through a CM 7778 preamp, with a CM rotor, on a 44 foot tower.

The downside is I'm at the foot of a valley with a ridge to the south, so I don't have a view of Toronto or Buffalo.

Fun piece of trivia: one of the main reasons I put up the antenna was because the cable company didn't offer high definition in my area, and I wanted it. On the very day that the tower was erected and antenna installed, the cable company was working out in front of my house replacing their equipment to make it high definition compatible.

I purchased the 91XG from Antennas Direct over the internet. The price after taxes and shipping was $130. The list price from Antenna Direct is $99. If I had shopped around I could have found a cheaper price, but I was in a hurry. I Later I found a Canadian supplier. I am very happy with the antenna. It has about 16 db gain and is an antenna that I feel confident on top of a 45 foot tower when the winds are high and there could be freezing rain, as compared to a 8 bay bowtie. Can anyone imagine a gray hoverman up on a high tower?

awesome thanks JRAG will hopefully be able to find a 91XG and see if its better than my CM 4248 UHF arrow is. I do see MyTV Buffalo digital but not all the time its a hard one to pick up. You may need a rotor as I have to move mine to keep 49's digital channel in I can get the analog but its not always crystal clear.

Thanks for the info Hsplrguy!

Do you see anything from global or city-tv at all. I suspect they much be pretty low powered as I can't see them at all in Guelph

Anyhow I'll have another deef fringe yagi to play with by the weekend. I'm going to "surgically extract" some signals off the CN tower with it.

keep you forum members advised!

cheers

I'll probably order one from AntennasDirect. My neighbor was over last night taking a look and was stunned at the picture quality!
(My neighbor wants my 4 bay)
I was going to order a 91xg sometime this week. However I also have the opportunity to pick up an 8 bay array (Digiwave 7286) I think I'll grab the 8
bay first and move my 4 bay off to the neighbors.

I have a CM 4221 installed at my moms house and was disappointed by this antenna build quality. It was all bent out of shape in the box, the reflector was falling off. Its working but the Digiwave antenna I bought has a much better build quality. I don't know what the performance difference is but it's working pretty good.

So I'll put the 8 bay up this weekend (weather permitting) and run with that
for a bit to see what happens. if It's about the same it's no loss. If I can't pull out what I want then I'll opt for the 91xg.

cheers
RJ

My first post...Looks like 91XG is a great antenna. Just wondering anyone has gone to the route using the 91XG from GTA to receive Rochester channels?

For receiving signals in a deep fringe area the 91xg cannot be equaled. I live near Brantford and I am able to receive stations from Toronto, Buffalo Batavia, Jamestown and Erie. I have the antenna on a 50 foot tower with rotor and preamp. All the signals are very reliable except 35 Erie and 51 Batavia. When they are all ther I can get a total of 38 stations including the sub stations. If any antenna is going to do it for you it will be the 91xg. Of course, location and height are major factors.

Hmm, 91XG looks nice. If I were to replace my DAT-75's I'd probably consider one of those.

RocketJock,

I've been following this on and off for a while now and wondering what your success has been like lately, since a few months have passed now. I also live in Guelph and have been tempted to try out a setup following the success of my Dad's set-up in Bradford.

Thanks.

I must say the testimonials for the 91XG are becoming hard to ignore. I don't get Qubo from my location, Caledon but 2-4-7 are rock solid day and night. Where is the transmitter for Qubo/ION?

It is located in Wyoming County about 10Km south of the town of LeRoy. 85 miles WSW from the CN tower.. .
