As for the yamaha remote controlling the directv receiver, the only oem remotes included with ANY type of gear to have a preset code for the current line of Directv receivers are only made by UEI. And if your Yamaha remote were to be made by UEI, the code would either be 1377 or 01377.

Does anyone know how to program the RC65RX direct tv remote with a harman/kardon avr 247? I went through the onscreen set up and the manual set up and I can't get it to work... Some codes turn the av receiver off, but won't turn it back on. HELP!!!!! I'm going crazy!

You will not find a single code that does both on & off, HK has NEVER had toggle command available for any of their receivers, so one doesn't exist. So with directv single power command, one of the power commands will always be missing. its a fact.

Programming the remote was much more rapid when, say, five different code numbers were up on the screen and I could just try one after another. This new process slows things way down.

Is there a way to make the new receivers just tell us the numbers and move ahead?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

edmund,
you're keeping your life simple. Thanks, because that gives you time to give us excellent and insightful answers here. Or better yet, use it for something more interesting to you. As for me, I'm already disappointed with the time it's taken me just to mount the dish for my HR-24!

If I do switch to HD, my 4 R22's will become HD receivers once I have true HD receiver on my account. :)

Hi, I have a Yamaha Rx-V450 surround system, all I need is the volume to work on a Directv RC65R remote, and I have an RC65RX.. I have gotten 2 new HD DVR's and I can't get either to control the volume on my surround, my old remotes that still work on the surround are wearing out and I don't want to replace the surround.
I have tried the 993 code and it works on older remotes but not on these 2 new ones...
Any help would be appreciated!
Paul

The volume keys won't work unless theres a tv code programmed to the tv device, withut a tv code in, while viewing SAT receiver pressing the volume and mute keys only initiates message at the bottom of the screen to program the tv device.

With tv code in, and partially working yamaha code programmed to the av1 or av2 device, then do 993 procedure to unlock the tv volume.

Are you sure you're pressing and holding the MUTE & SELECT keys for two blinks. Do not count the blinks as you initially press them, its only once you hold the two keys together, you get the two confirmation blinks, now release and enter the codes.

Yes sir! I have programmed 5 of the older remotes here, these 2 are the newest remotes, I got the 65R about 2 months ago and the 65RX on saturday. I have tried the 993 on av1 and av2 about 6 times on each remote.
I got the same answer from the Directv tech forum.
I took the 65R to the store I got my tv and surround sound from and they couldn't find a way to get it to work with my yamaha either.
I have a 60inch Pioneer Elite Signature series plasma Tv and these remotes work fine with it, I also have a Pioneer 50 inch plasma in the bed room and of course the remotes work with it too. The living room is where the Yamaha surround sound is.
I never turn the surround or the DVR off in living room, I just like to "mute" the sound on it and turn the Plasma off at night. I for sure am baffled and follow these instructions carefully..... If you think of something please post it :) I am thinking maybe the surround sound system is 7 yrs old and may not work with these latest remotes, just didn't want to have to replace it since there's nothing wrong with it.
