A follow-on to my last: the sub-channel numbers which Daniel lists for the channels in his table are the PID (serviceid) numbers which Mythtv uses. The groupings of the channels matches the channel groupings by frequency which my tests pull down.

Question, is the list stll correct as of today, November 21? (Since, as I noted, my card no longer tunes properly, although it detects lots of channels...(the audio ones I think!)

It's been a while since I did a full check... but I just did a random sampling of a few dozen channels and they're all where I expected them.

Question: I have rogers digital box with basic cable. I have an LG LCD TV which when scanned i get all the channels discussed in this forum. I have never connected my rogers digital box, they gave it to me for free for a year, thats the only reason why i took it. OK here's my Q...when i give back the box to Rogers, will they do some tweak on their end not allowing my LG TV to be able to receive all those channels anymore? What if i disconnected the service completely and removed the filter from outside?

Thanks.

No, they will not remove that capability. Discontinuing all service and then removing the filter is technically called "theft", so I wouldn't recommend that!

Is there any way of finding out what frequencies, if any, Rogers has that is not used by either QAM, NTSC or Internet services?

If you're looking to modulate your own channel... I believe Rogers usually leaves one free for "lobby watch" in condos and apartments, but I'm not sure what it is.

Rogers Mississauga uses the following frequencies for unencrypted digital video streams. But there are *lots* of encrypted streams on other frequencies.

mysql> select mplexid, frequency, modulation from dtv_multiplex;
+---------+-----------+------------+
mplexid | frequency | modulation |

+---------+-----------+------------+
1 | 525000000 | QAM_256 |
2 | 579000000 | QAM_256 |
3 | 585000000 | QAM_256 |
4 | 657000000 | QAM_256 |
5 | 681000000 | QAM_256 |
6 | 699000000 | QAM_256 |
7 | 771000000 | QAM_256 |
8 | 837000000 | QAM_256 |
9 | 843000000 | QAM_256 |

+---------+-----------+------------+

Just an update to say that the channel list is still current - no changes over the past few months.

I am looking at buying a PVR and would like to be able to program it via the on screen menu. I understand that in order to do this, you need to get the Rogers PVR (Future Shop $299 after Rogers Rebate). Rogers told a friend looking to do the same thing that you need to pay $2.90/mth to get Digital.

I am currently analog basic, removed the filter to get expanded. I am pretty sure that the Digital Box/PVR will now make the outside filter obsolete for the Digital Set and the Boxes IP address will control my "Package".

My question....shouldn't I be able to continue to get the Expanded Package on the other TVs in the house that are only Analog?

I won't get into the whole issue of removing filters; but unless Rogers changes something on your line your analog reception will remain the same.

I got a new Sony HDTV for Christmas. It has a built-in ATSC/QAM tuner. I have Rogers cable service. While I will be shortly up-grading to their HDTV box (since it is free for 10 months), I'd like to be able to access the various free channels listed here. However, I can't get any cable hook-up to give access to the channels. Whenever I get the Sony to do a scan for digital channels, it finds nothing. I've tried this using a direct cable connection to the TV (bypassing the cable box entirely) as well as with various feeds or conenctions from the box.

Could someone provide an overview of the steps you need to do to be able to access the channels listed in this thread? Many thanks.

Think I solved my own problem. Hook up directly to the cable, first check for analog channels and then check for digital.

I think the channels you guys are posting are from the suburbs. I am getting Rogers Sportsnet at 74.001-74.003, for instance here near Yonge and Eglinton.

TimBee,

Daniel is out in Markham and has said so, I am out in Thornhill. Every area can have slight changes here or there, there isnt a defacto Rogers channel lineup (in Richmond Hill-Marhkam-Thornhill TSN is in the basic pack, where as in Toronto it is Sportsnet, plus other small changes)...

Incidentally, this will likely all start changing within the next month as Rogers completely changes their channel lineups and clears out some of the high 60's and low 70's for digital that are currently occupied by analog.
