Just got my new Phillips 6000R from American Satellite. I put it in the bedroom to replace my old receiver, but I can't believe how loud it is even when it's in standby mode. I checked my Sony Sat T60 in the theatre and it stays on also, but is much quieter.

What do you do with a tivo in the bedroom when you want to seep? Also, there's no on\off on the Phillips, just a standby mode in the directv menu.-- What a pain. Do you pull the plug? How about an X-10 appliance module to cu the power? Then I guess I'd have to wait for it to power up and recycle- - There must be a better way--

Any Ideas??

Why don't you swap locations and put the Sony in the bedroom? Other than that, cutting the power is the only way to actually turn it off.

I thought about switching them, but the Sony is still loud enough to be annoying. Additionally, I think the Sony is a better model and it is wired in a cabinet to my whole system--

I'm thinking of just plugging the Phillips into an X-10 appliance module and cutting the power that way!

I hope some one has a better solution

Barry, to expand on your idea, use the appliance module for manual turn-off, but use a timer event of some sort so the TiVo has had the time to boot up before you're ready to use it, like 10 minutes before the earliest time you're likely to watch TV in that room. No inconvenience!
