Tom:

1) Can't really explain this one, but I can help with some of the tricks that can be used to learn "tough" IR. First, try changing the distance between the remotes - you may need 2", you may need 2 feet or something inbetween. Also, change how you press the button - if "holding" the button, try just pressing it. Or vice versa. Also, you can try putting a magazine between both remotes, pressing the button on the original, and while holding the button, removing the magazine. This cuts off the beginning of the IR signal and has worked several times.

2) I'm not quite sure I get this one... the macro buttons are always active for either the top or bottom row of devices. There's no way to "hide" them from a device.

I finally got my SL-9000 from Worthington on Monday. After a few days playing with it I am impressed. It learned all my equipment with very little trouble. Even my old Hitachi 13" TV in the kitchen that I lost the remote for ages ago works with it. Sometimes I do wonder about how they pre-program in some of the keys. For my Zenith TV the menu comes up by pressing the ALT key not the MENU key, I fixed they by programming in the menu key on the MENU key. It took me a little bit to figure out the punch through feature. This is really handy. On my old remote I programmed in the stereo volume over the TV volume which lost the TV volume for me. With punch through this isn't necessary. I also noticed what you were discussing about programming in keys with multiple steps. Very tricky but I found a key that was preprogrammed for it and will use that instead. I played with the macro buttons so that I could turn on the vcr switch the TV (zenith) over to VCR and the stereo to Video 1 where the VCR is on. When I executed the macro the TV skipped over the VCR and went to AUX. I will play around more with this to figure it out. My old Marantz RC-20 remote used to bounce menu selections also on the zenith. It also used to bounce past channel 2 to channel 3 when I would cycle through the channels. I haven't seen that with this remote. So far for the money it can't be beat, I would recommend it to anyone.

I just received the SL-9000 remote that I got off of Ebay for $60. I have it set up for everything my A/V system has, but I can NOT get the inputs for my Kenwood VR-209 receiver to be learned by the SL-9000. The input buttons are a quick release (about the only way to describe it), which means I can NOT press it for the 3 seconds it requires. I tried pressing it quickly, and it said "GOOD" to both the audio and video inputs, but when I tried to apply them with the SL-9000 nothing happened. Is there a way to get these working? I really don't want to use both remotes, that is why I purchased the SL-9000.

Brian, did you try using code #182 for the SL-2000? I, too, have a Kenwood VR-209 and that's the code they (the company) told me to use with the receiver when I was doing research today.

If it doesn't work, let me know -- cause I want to purchase a *true* Universal Remote that works with my Kenwood receiver.

After calling the company, I used that code which they said would work, but it didn't. I know that it did work on my friend's (he sold his RC-2000 to get a SL-9000), but not on mine. I did send it back to the compay, and they reprogrammed it for me. Now it does control my whole system and I would recommend it to everyone looking for a remote. Did I mention, it was done for free and was even UPS'd back at no charge?

Mrs. L: I don't know who Dave is, and you are kind of in the wrong place for your question, but check

[Link: oneforall.com]

You will need to know which OneForAll remote you have, and your TV brand.
