The Cinema 6 sounds good. Does anybody have any experience trying to control a General Instruments Digital Cable settop? There is no model number on it. Mine is from TCI in Washington. My learning remotes learn codes but do not talk to it. I have a Radio Shack 'universal remote' that can control it so I know that it can be done. If I could find a remote that could communicate with the GI settop and my Kenwood VR-209 ($299 dolby digital) Receiver I would be a happy man.

David,
The book on Cinema 7 has 6 codes listed to control General Instruments cable box, hopefully one should work. Worst case scenario, just learn the commands from the radio shack onto the one-for-all.
Buy it, try it, and if it doesn't work, return it. For $16-25, its a great remote.

I just bought the older Cinema 7 (Model URC-7200B00) and I cannot get it to control my 3rd gen RCA DBS receiver (Model 515 or 5451 w/dish). I have tried all RCA codes (including 0566 and many others) to no avail.

Two questions: 1) Can the older non-learning Cinema 7 control the DBS? 2) Can the newer control it?

Thanks.

I just bought the Cinema 6, and ran into a problem. I also tried the Radio Shack 15-1994. Same problem (of course).

I have a JVC XV501BK DVD player, and I've noticed that there's a problem with UEI's code 558 for JVC: it works all DVD player functions EXCEPT play and pause.

In addition, I've tried manually coding those keys with what UEI says are the play and pause extended codes. No such luck. UEI has apparently SCREWED UP with their code 558.

I *love* the Radio Shack unit. And I've been very, very, VERY happy in the past with the Radio Shack implementations of the One For All units. But this sucks.

So now I'm looking for another brand of universal remote. Learning won't work, sorry; I don't have the original DVD remote (and won't, not at $84.50). Any ideas?

There's a whole forum here at RemoteCentral to support OneForAll remotes, and you ain't in it. On the cover page of it there's a link to begin at. It will lead you to a site that has great online manuals and code lists for your Cinema 7.
