Nice....but one issue....the pronto pros were still in production when 64bit came out....hmmm...maybe that ant program is a bit of an apples to oranges comparison.

After 11 Phillips support phone calls...I finally spoke with someone that really understood the situation..... "Drivers intermittently working on 32-bit Vista systems and not at all on 64." According to him the software engineer crew from Belgium visits US corporate every so often, each time customer support staff get a chance to discuss customer issues, each time the engineer's hear many complaints about pronto owners not being able to use their remotes on their vista systems. Their answer so far, no intention of making drivers. Are you serious!?

My answer, no problem, have owned three pronto remotes, my next remote will be from another company that respects their customers....

I figured you'd moved on to a Harmony at this point. Or, maybe invested some time and at least installed dual boot capability and purchased this....

You know, MS gives away Virtual PC which would allow you to run XP on your PC, maybe even under Vista. Not sure about USB drivers but for sure, dual-boot would be an option.

I too thought this would be a solution. After all the installation and setup was complete I discovered that USB is not supported in Virtual PC. Quite the disappointment.

I don't say things for effect. I bought a Harmony 1100 for my bedroom setup three weeks ago, its a bit overkill though it controls my lighting, music, tv and even my alarm clock just fine. I don't need to replace my remote for my main system yet so Phillips has got some time to do the right thing before I upgrade to a different manufacturer on that one.

PS- I used my old xp system to make the changes I needed to my tsu-7000... point is, I shouldn't have had to go through the trouble of setting it up, but I get the sarcasm. ; )

I don't think it is too much to ask to continue to support your prior flagship product which was one of the most expensive remotes to purchase at the time for at least a few years. Many valuable customers purchased that product and still use it today - it isn't like it was a $20 item that is disposable. All that is needed is a 64 bit driver...everything else seems to work. To abandon your customers like this is simply unacceptable. I won't be buying another Philips remote.

MY POINT EXACTLY Dbags!!! Give us the 64 bit driver, and I will stick with buying Phillips otherwise its only a matter of time till someone else comes out with a new remote that I like and will purchase for my main system.

Geez, guys... dabu's post dated July 16, 2009 states Win 7 in XP compatibility mode communicates with our old Prontos. So, if you want your new OS to support your legacy 32 bit USB hardware (Pronto RCs), be sure to AVOID VISTA and go straight to one of the Win 7 versions that have this feature (not all do).

I bought Vista Ultimate a couple of years ago so I could use more RAM but its lack of driver support always pi$$ed me off. I guess it's time to reformat and install Win 7... Billy is digging into my pockets yet again due to his F/U with Vista.

makitamark... Are you running Vista 32 or 64 bit? If you're running Vista 64 bit... how did you do it?

I'm running 64 bit and the OS can't see my TSU7000B. I've been told there is a free MS download that allows running XP 32 bit to run wthin Vista Ultimate but I haven't tried it yet. I might give it a try since the HD w/ XP 32 bit crashed.

If the above doesn't work then I guess its time for another OS upgrade. :(

Recently made the move to Win 7 Ultimate 64 and PENG would not work the USB. Otherwise, works fine. I did install Win 7 XP virtual and once you understand how to make the USB work, it does work. So, still some life left in those "older" Pronto NG models.

Just got my father and father in-law Harmony remotes for Fathers day. They may have been Phillips remotes but Phillips wanted to screw their customers into forced unnecessary upgrades. As my post title stated, I was officially not going to buy Phillips anymore if they didn't do the right thing and my wallet is following through on that. Too bad I had owned 3 Phillips remotes before the 7000 I would have bought the new generation. There should be a Harvard Business case on Phillips and the effects of poor customer support.
