Well then..... I stand corrected...:)

The basis of my comments were drawn from the generator
action theory. In defence of my posts...I did say "If
the magnet being used moves at all while installed, (movement
would be necessary)." So there....at least I'm a little
right......HA

"Moved at all" turns out to be a far cry from moved enough to matter, and moved fast enough to matter. Remember that the voltage generated will be related to the magnetic field strength, the distance from magnet to conductors, and the speed of the movement. From the start, this seemed like a theoretical concern totally swamped by the reality that the magnet would carefully, that is probably slowly, be placed in one place and not moved again. That kind of motion would inspire one very low voltage pulse of very rounded wave form.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Erine,

I have already had my theory debunked by jgedde. Now your just picking on me...:)

It seems inconsequential at this point, but what I had in my head when it came to the movement was the magnet breaking loose after installation, ("while installed"). Although of course your right... speed can and does play a part in the voltage produced in the generator action I warned about. However there are other things to consider. The lack of speed can be compensated by the amount of traces being cut by the magnetic lines of force. Also keep in mind that someone not familar with apierre's remote (or someone else with this mod) and what is inside it might shake it around trying to figure out "what is moving around in there".

Of course the voltage if any would be small....miniscule to say the least, but do you know what that number might be??? Do you also know how much it would take to potenially screw up the software installed?? I don't, that's why it was a "caution" notice. I never suggested that the hardware was in danger. I stand by my original post. Better to comment and have it proven wrong, then to say nothing. That's the point of forums yes, no?

So far no one has disputed the point that there is the potential for voltage in my "worst case senario", only the amount of which could be produce and what would be necessary to cause problems. Even then it's only educated opinions and not hard numbers. If it wasn't for the truely educated opinions that have been posted on this thread, I would still have never considered installing a magnet in my remote. Not without hard numbers (which I still haven't seen) that disprove what I believed to be a valid concern.

I have not seen a disassembled Pronto so this really is only a possibility not fact.

smokinghot, you might find this interesting ...?

Thanks wjjz106,

I have watched that video. The small version. Network here at work is incredibly slow, and didn't have the patience to wait for the HD download...lol. But I never noticed the where abouts of the motion sensor and how much open space there would be surrounding it after the case was closed. That was just one of the disclaimers I tried to throw in there.

It has been about six weeks since I performed the modification to the pickup sensor, and so far everything is working perfectly. I have performed many uploads and downloads, lots of use, abuse etc. with no problems at all. I must say that I was very disappointed when I first got the unit home and realized that I would not be able to use the pickup sensor in the way that I had hoped, but now all is good!

I’m wondering if anyone else has given this modification a try yet?

I saw some possible interest in this mod recently so I thought I would update the status once again. My TSU7500 has now had the mod in place for about four months with no problems. During this time I have also performed the mod for friends on three other TSU7500 units, so far all with no problems.
